Early in the game, when he walked 3 batters in a row, and walked a run in...he threw 10 straight balls and none of them were a fastball. This is when I knew he was ****ed.
Lance got lit up. He is coming off an injury; maybe he will settle in again. Doesn't look like we are going to lose ground. Cam Smith is going to be something. Correction, he already is something.
I still...still...for about the 7rdth time...still cannot understand why he didn't throw a few innings in AAA
"Cubs"...that's like if the "Astros" were named after that first Russian chimpanzee they left up there to die.
He's throwing a batting practice FB and cant control his breaking pitches. How many pitches in a row did he miss in the same exact spot in the 1st inning.
As I said earlier...he walked 3 straight guys without throwing a FB. Breaking ball inside, breaking ball inside, breaki....you get the drift
Didn't understand why Lance could just come back from injury and immediately start without spending some time in the minors. He's not good enough to just start right away after spending time off.
This and Cam were about the only good things from Saturday. Hader prob needs 2 more days to fully reset from all his recent action (6x in 9 days). Let's get a win or two during that process.
Was it 1 or 2 posters that were asking why would majority of us think it will be certain L with Lance starting. I did't base that on stats, I think stats flattered him and K quantity too. Stuff plus lack of control has looked amateur level. And he can't not know this too so the pressure to hit his spots might be pretty big. Walk guys or get smashed off the mound. So we are gonna see this every 5-6 start atleast till end of 2026 when he might be released, or go again golfing with Crane and force new extension or we are gonna start to make this "stubbed toe" phantom IL stints more often, longer and longer if we are trying to compete. There is history of pitchers who did it older with no fastball. But they had control, strikezone was 5" wider low, and the names doing this were such that they got 1,5 yard off the plate if catchers set up right. I don't think these pitchers would survive either in todays game with todays zone and umps being held somewhat accountable. And as lesser version of this I can't see Lance surviving any better. Only good thing about the game, most of us had Cubs as lock with bets.
7 out of 10 games you guys say it's a guaranteed loss just by looking at the SP and the pregame lineup. That hasn't worked out so well, no? No. Nobody gives a **** about your random internet bets on baseball, of all things....if you're regularly betting on baseball you may have a problem.
Looking using Okert In the game when I thought Joe will go for long guy was interesting. Hopefully King stays in pen next game if it's tight. If need to use lefty from pen b4 Hader -> Sousa -> Okert -> King. Using Okert smells Sousa is the guy with Abreu & Hader but I have seen with Espada that if he decides someone (for example Scott) is he's guy....he will be using him until Brown stops him 2 weeks later almost like trying to win argument that he was right originally about the guy. When most BP hands are like this. They are good and then they are not and may be good sometime in the future again or they have been figured out for good or stuff just wast there. But do hope that the feeling goes away that Espada is the last guy in the room always to figure out something obv.
