Need to start possibly grooming Gustave for closing opportunities?

Yes, we need the series more than y'all. But, y'all still need to go into the playoffs with momentum. This isn't the NBA where the best team all year is a shoe-in for the finals. The only thing that matters in baseball is who's hot in October.

CHC has a very impressive team, but y'all need Arrieta to put his post-ASB struggles behind him. I think the Nats will give y'all a run for your money. Will be very fun to watch.

Sometimes I think you're watching a different team than the rest of us...

Of course, but it's not even half way through September. The momentum needs to start the last two weeks of the regular season. This series is completely meaningless for them right now.

Arrieta will probably get it together, but the concern is getting the bats back in order again. Been on this mini-slump for a week. Better to have that now than later in the month. I'm sure the Nats and Dodgers both will. The top of the NL IMO is tougher than the top of the AL so whoever comes out of the NL will definitely have gotten a real tough challenge.

There's scores of examples that end of season momentum means very little.

No not really. It's seems like its just too interesting more times than not with Giles in there. Too stressful.

Giles continues to be a man!
Mchugh pitched like a cy young for a day.
    and there was no correa.

if those cubs fans are traveling fans, then much props and respect for them.
If they live here, they should be disgusted. houston is the city that puts food on their kid's tables. respect it. texas hero Stephen f Austin would not stand for this.

I dunno. I'm watching a guy who's K/9 is at prime Wagner and Lidge levels. Unhittable slider.

Yes, he's still raw... But you can't deny the turnaround he's had this season since the April slump.

Now to get you aknowledging Springer's positives... Gets on base and drawing walks is also an important factor in lineup construction.

True, but you'd rather go in playing well than not. You definitely don't want to go into the postseason in a slump with most of your lineup which seems to be the case right now with this team. The seasons all about ups and downs, and you want to be trending upward in the postseason obviously. The Cubs really haven't had a meaningful game in a while now, and it's usually during those times where teams get complacent and never really get out of it going into the postseason.

I think they said it earlier on Fox -- the first team to clinch since 1995 has only gone onto the WS 3 times. The Royals last year were one of those teams.
