Berkman tied for 3rd in the NL in walks now... despite missing 16 games. The value of on-base skills demonstrated when Pence drove him in.
Actually that was Pence who scored on the bomb. Lance scored on Hunter's double. Just to be nit picky. but ya, Lance has done a fantastic job getting on base via walks.
Yea, I had already edited before your post... and the point remained the same... just to be picky. :grin: Seriously though, a lot of players, e.g., Lee might have swung at a pitch out of the zone, leading to a weak ground out and therefore, would not have been on base for Pence's hit. Tejada is also notorious for swinging at pitches out of the zone and not doing enough with them a la a Vlad Guerrero or Ichiro, who are the rare exceptions.
It's weird how slowly CJ appears to swing the bat at times. Almost too deliberately but it's working for him so far.
That kid that just caught the foul ball was like 3 times the size of all his friends. I assume they're in the same age group.
