How many hits do you think the Cubs have got this series on plays a good defensive team would have had? The number of infield hits and misplayed balls yesterday was driving me crazy.
Not sure but certainly at least a couple... that ball that got by Tejada earlier in the game is probably fielded by about 95% of SSs around the league, if not more.
CF & Catcher are the only places where I've been seeing good defense. Pence might be the most frustrating to watch because he has the talent, but he can look real bad out there. Tejada is no longer a big league quality SS.
sure he is, he is just below average one. he's still serviceable. when i think of a player no longer capable of playing a position, i think of craig biggio the final 7 or 8 years of his career. tejada is a far far cry from sinking to those depths.
I admittedly haven't seen many games this year due to them never being on national TV it seems, but Tejada has looked terrible.
In those situations, the potential reward just isn't worth the risk, imo. One run isn't much, and the chances of a ball being hit in one of the only precise locations where that change could make a difference (especially at an almost irrelevant position like LF at MMP) are very small. Too much risk for me.
