I don't even pay attention to the Astros until the Rockets season ends. Glad to see Bourn hitting well, but I thought our offense was supposed to be new and improved?
not a horrible game, all things considered. roy o straightened himself out and we didn't get skunked.
I used to have WGN on suddenklink in College Station, but haven't found it on the guide here in Nacogdoches. They did show the game on FSN-H in HD, something they don't do for the Rockets up here.
this is about the only complaint i had this game.. certaintly not about to jump on Pudge and Pence this early in the season.. like others appear to already be leaning to..
Can assembling a bad lineup cost you runs? The answer is an evident yes, and no one does a better job at illustrating that than Cooper. Who's bright idea was it to bat Pudge 2nd and Bourn 8th? Even JD mentioned that we're much better off utilizing Bourn's speed in the 2 hole to get steals, rather than simply advancing via pitcher's sacrifice bunt. Ausmus could advance on that. Then we see Pudge have horrible ABs, go 0-4 with 2 Ks, while Bourn goes 2-4. Hell, I'd rather see Tejada bat 2nd, as he's gotten off to another good start (though it was all singles, justifying him moving up the order for now... then bring him back down when he starts struggling).
That's a little ridiculous. Put Bourn in the 2 spot after the season he had?? He's never shown anything in his career. Make him prove himself at this point before throwing his sub .300 OBP anywhere near the top of the order. Speed is useless if you're not getting on base. Pudge did a poor job. At least there's an argument for Pence up there, and maybe for Tejada. But not Bourn--not yet.
who told you that??? same crew as last year, except Pudge is in instead of Ausmus. otherwise...same lineup.
Yep, I am not saying his speed wouldn't be good in the 2 hole but I don't care how fast he is if he doesn't get on base, he can be Carl Friggin Lewis and it wouldn't matter. Looking at his season last year, tonight seems like an anomaly, if he can string a few good games together then we can talk.
I would put Pence in the two hole. Would much rather see: Kaz Pence Berkman Lee Tejada Pudge Blum Bourne than the way we are currently running the lineup out there.
Well, last year we had Lee out for a long time when we made a run for the wild card, and Matsui was also gone. And anything is an improvement over Ausmus, who was basically an automatic out.
