I'll be at today's game, Zambrano and Oswalt, what a matchup!!! Too bad Zambrano owns us. Hopefully we can finally get the best of him. But I really don't see it happening.
Why would people want to sit in a football stadium, in the middle of the suburbs of miami, in 90-100 degree heat, 90-100% humidity, to watch a team that doesn't keep star players due to its financial situation secondary to not having a new stadium? Miami and Arlington both need retractable roof stadiums in the worst way... that roof could speak wonders for their attendance.
you're right. in miami's tropical climate it's not just the heat...it's the everyday uncertainty of driving to a park where a game may or may not be played due to rain. in arlington, it's the heat....wow.
How is it a joke of a division? Milwaukee is 3 games out of the best record in the NL. Chicago is 2 games back in the wild card race. The bottom of the division sucks, but at the top, it's not like the division is substantially worse than any other.
wow, this forum will be crowded after the weekend when we've swept the cubs, swept the brewers and find ourselves 5.5 out of first place
Those two games in Florida on Saturday and Sunday might end up being crucial... really, they had no business losing either one.
Had they won one or both of those, they may have lost one or both of the Cubs games - we'll never know. Changing the past may affect the future.
By the way...we're about to be 9 games out. Colorado is beating the crap out of the Brew Crew, 16-3 in the 5th.
Astros are about to be 9 games out in the Central. What a joke of a division. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/rpi
i never give up!!!! i said it's likely over...it's improbable. it still is. but the astros are my favorite pro sports franchise. i never stop caring/watching/rooting.
hahaha ... if that happens I will just be utterly shocked and amazed that we could get within that close. It would be awesome. Damn Max, why did you get my hopes up at all when I had all but convinced myself it was over. I've got tix to all three games next weekend against the Padres, and I would love it if I could convince myself that the games meant anything at all. Lets just see if we can get a win over Zambrano tonight .. that has been hard enough for the Astros of late, let alone sweeping the Brew Crew.
I agree that Lane, for now, *is* the best defensive option at CF. I just wish he wasn't even on the roster. The guy had no business on this roster *last* year. This year is done for, why is valuable PT being given to guys who have proven to have *no* consistency on this level?
Jason Lane is so bad- he's like a car you keep repairing. Spent too much time on it-can't give up now! He's cheap, yes, but I guarantee that if he was black he wouldn't be on the Astros right now. Remember how we released a "disappointing" Preston Wilson (and still got to pay his contract) to StL last season. He was batting better than Lane and had a good playoff series with the Cards. Purpura is not the man for the long term. - C.F.
You have to keep in mind that, had we kept Preston, he would have received a sizable pay raise in his 2nd year. But who keeps track of those little details...
