In my opinion Garner didn't manage the game well enough. I know the hitters couldn't do their jobs but you can't leave Willy out in the field when you need hits. You also don't take out Scott who was just hitting everything.

Did Garner take out two of their better hitters - Huff and Scott - for Munson? After Berkman it was pitcher, catcher, ss, catcher, and Lane! They were never gonna win!

    It gets worse:

    Oswalt May Miss Start

The irony is that Borkowski would've been the likely candidate to start in his place.

yeah, closer by committee. just said so in his press conference. "spoke to brad and informed him he is out of the closer's role".

The astros are officially out of the playoffs(yep, matmatically speaking, jk). No team can go to the postseason with players taking turn closing games. I mean one day Lidge would close, the other day wheeler, than biggio, berkman. Could you really see Garner going out there to close one?

I'm sure some bright one will look up stats and find a team that made it to the playoffs without a closer, and i must say, that never happened. That team is fictional.

Its funny cuz I just somehow felt Lidge was gonna blow it. I just had this bad feeling. Im surprised Berkman had such a bad game and the announcer jinxed the game after the Burke double...."seems like a w"....wtf

i don't blame the loss on garner because the players really should have come through a number of times, but he really shot himself in the foot taking out luke scott for munson. what are the odds ausmus gets hurt? has he ever even missed a game due to injury? he's a freaking iron man. there was absolutely nothing behind berkman when huff and scott came out.

Well I am glad I quit watching and went to bed......this team is utterly dissappointing....lots of individual talent but the chemistry is just not right.

    Pitching...AND hitting.

Ensberg, Lane, Ausmus and Everett are all having PISS POOR offensive years.....HORRID years....and the team was counting on them big time.

If you can't hit .250...you don't deserve to be a regular player.

I remember last year in the clenching game against the Braves he took out Berkman for a pinch runner. They went on to win in 18 innings on Burke's HR, but when he took out his best player we were scratching our heads. Last night when he took out his hottest bat in Luke Scott I wanted to break something.

My bad...I thought the game was over when Miller struck the guy out and come to find out he didn't...

This is just typical of our season and why the Reds will win the wild card...

I turned the game off when it was 6-5 Astros. I then turned the game back on a few minutes later to see Lidge pitching in a 6-6 game. And you know what? I didn't even blink at that point. Why? Lidge has desensitized losing for me, much the same way video games have desensitized violence.

I've grown accustomed to your blown saves
It almost makes the day begin
I've grown accustomed to the moans of disbelief the fans utter night and noon
Your fastballs, your sliders, the ups, the downs
Are second nature to me now
Like breathing out and breathing in
I was serenely independent and content before we met
Surely I could always be that way again and yet
I've grown accustomed to your HRs, accustomed to your hilariously bad ERA
    Accustomed to your blown saves
