Dammit. I hate when closers give up dingers. Keep the damn ball down. The save numbers might look good, but I'm sick and freaking tired of all those damn dingers.

There is no reason to ever allow him to close a game for this franchise ever again. This is a complete joke. This isn't a bad stretch... this is 2/3 of the season that he's been hit hard. Make the change.

He overthrows the 1-2 slider that should have been the K pitch... if he can't throw the slider that stays in the zone until the last second consistently, he'll never be more than just an average closer... that pitch was the one that made him "special".

I think the Astros have given him ample opportunity to pull himself out of this and he keeps letting them down. In the biggest games he has blown games in every imaginable way this season. Dan Wheeler should close the games out.

...and that's all that needs to be said. Why is a veteran closer overthrowing? Is he not listening to his coaches? As I type this, he just heaved a fastball as hard as he could and nearly fell off the mound. Sometimes, dude looks like a freaking 11-year-old out there.

PITCH, don't throw. And keep the damn ball down.

    DAMMIT, another Roger W blown.

The MMP fans are dicks though - they're booing Lidge as he's trying to keep the runner on base.

That's got nothing to do with the HR he gave up & is classless.

5 batters - 3 hits, 1 home run. Lidge sucks, plain and simple, and not just in non-save situations. I have no faith in this guy, and he appears to have no faith in himself.

Sometimes fans need to let him and more importantly THE OWNER know that they are sick of him, and would be happy to see him gone.

Send him to AAA until he learns to throw strikes LOW in the zone.

Miller scares me too....just get this ONE OUT Trevor.

Maybe it is, but if you don't want to get booed then keep the damn ball down. You and I both know that those boos are there thanks to yet ANOTHER 9th inning dong on an overthrown, up-in-the-zone Brad Lidge pitch. It's getting incredibly old. Dude might work through this and return to his Mariano Rivera-esque form, but this year has become absolutely unbearable watching him repeat the same mistakes over and freaking over again.

Unfortunately, you can't "teach" what Lidge does (when he's at his best)... if that was the case, pitching coaches around the world would covert every one of their hard-throwing pitchers into guys who can master a late breaking slider.

Lidge threw that thing so effortlessly in his first 3 years as a reliever, we all took it for granted how hard it is to execute that sort of pitch. L

The walks, WP's, etc. are all on Lidge... his problems aren't simply his "wildness" from earlier in the year.

You take away Lidge's filthy slider, and leave him with the wild one (and his 97mph straight fastball), he's merely an average hard throwing reliever... the late-breaking slider separated him from the rest.

Are you talking about the fans who have paid their hard earned money to see Lidge blow yet another game ? Because If I was at MMP I would have been the one greeting him at the dugout screaming " YOU SUCK LIDGE !!" Read the other posts he is a piece of TRASH......
