Any time a place only gets active after a LOSS warrants this sort of reaction. There's just too many doomsdayers on here... too many living/dying with each and every game. The bottom line is that this team is 4 games out with a 4 game series against the team they're trailing. They've also won 4 out of 6, and had won seven straight against their opponent before tonight. Do I think they can/should play better?... yes. But, I also realize that this is still a game that rewards FAILING 7 out of 10 times (when you bat). This is also a game that will humble the most ardent of frontrunners, and will boost the spirits of the most pessimistic of naysayers. They had their chances today... and the blew them... and these things do happen. Just like the Devil Rays can sweep the Red Sox, or the Cardinals can have a pitching IMPLOSION for 2 straight weeks... if you pay attention to this game long enough, NOTHING will/should suprise you.
I am so frustrated at this team. Everytime I feel they are getting on track they do something like laying a goose egg tonight. Wasting an outstanding performance from Roy O.
Exactly. This team has been a roll the past few weeks, piching and hitting alike we're both looking good. So the team ate a little humble pie tonight, Berkman being a prime example after being strong the previous few games. The fact is the team has won 4 of 5 and their last two series. That's encouraging.
Tough loss and looks like the Reds are going to win tonight ... It would be absolutely huge if we could somehow take 3 out of these next 4 going into the break. Lets get back over .500 by the break!
Sucks for Roy, he pitched a great game. Atleast we won the series, but winning today would have been awesome.
Nervous Nellie: Garner, somewhat high-strung as far as managers go, is able to channel most of his nervous energy while he manages games. Take that element out of the equation, however, and he's a mess. Garner served his suspension during Monday's opener with the Cubs, and, unable to pull the strings during what at one point was a very tight game, he was ready to pull his hair out as he watched from the video room in the back of the clubhouse. As the score remained tied at 2, Garner paced. And paced. And paced. "Until [Lance] Berkman hit the home run, I was like a cat trying to find a place to poop," Garner said.
