WEAK A$$ liner....runner on 3rd 1 out in 2 innings and we can't get a single flipping run....and we leave 12 men on base...frustrating team to watch. DD
yea... this will spurn the new wave of "seasons over" posts that have been missing since the Detroit series.
This one hurts bad. We had a real chance to make a statement. Unreal. How can you not let Burke bunt in that situation... how in the WORLD can you have confidence in these hitters to get a flyball to the outfield after what we've witnessed tonight? He was ahead in the count... all we needed was one bunt and this game is tied. Too much to ask from Phil. At least we still have his gut, though.
the lack of sitiuational hitting from this team over the past 2 season is SHOCKING...no major league team can afford to give up the chances the astros have in that time. that being said, im amazed at the way this scrub marshall has managed to dominate us on 2 different occasions. i guess some guys just have the stros' number.
Yea... except for that game where we rocked him before this one... the same can be said for the way Buchholz (the "scrub") has dominated the Rangers two times this year, or how Wandy (who has worse stuff than Marshall) has dominated anyone.
Funny how the "order" of wins changes everything. If we lose yesterday to Prior (with Pettite), but win today... we did what we were supposed to do (and everybody is still upbeat going into the BIGGEST series of the year). But alas, we flip-flop those two games... and everybody is starting to throw their hand up in exasperation, and calling it the worst loss we've had all year... and one that will spell doom for the club. The net result... they still won 2 out of 3. Move on, and focus on the task at hand: winning at least 3 out of 4 against the Cardinals. Even if they win today... a series loss against the Cardinals is FAR more costly. Honestly, the comedy central is in time-warp 2003 all over again.
The problem is that we don't have enough professional hitters on this team. Lane Ensberg Bruntlett Ausmus Oswalt That is 55% of your bats that I would not consider as a professional hitter, someone that is going to get the job done with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. DD
You could easily add just about everyone else except for Biggio to that list tonight. We have some streaky hitters on this team, but if everyone is performing to their abilitites...then you really only have Everett, Ausmus and the pitcher to worry about.
Out of all of those guys, only Burke and Ensberg had that opportunity (and failed) tongiht... Berkman had the worst night of all of our hitters with RISP, and he's supposed to be our one "professional hitter."
lol...damn nick...a bit edgy tonight. attacking DD's syntax and stuff...you know what he was trying to say. the way you are attacking the board tonight, you are reminding me of.....me! and i like it!
