Seriously, I'm not asking the Texans to be the Patriots and make the playoffs every year with a shot at a ring ever year or two. I'm just asking them to be better than mediocre.
That is exactly what I want; hell, that is what the Oilers gave me growing up. I still remember the preseason SI cover one year with the Cowboys and Oilers on the cover that said it could be an all Texas Superbowl. Granted the Oilers NEVER lived up to their billing but there was atleast legitimate hope every year and every year they atleast rolled into the playoffs before crushing our dreams.
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d81d4ed2d/Coaches-on-the-hot-seat They say or think Kubiak is back with Phillips coming in. Thats too bad if true.
@JasonLaCanfora: For all we've heard about Stanford Coach Jim Harbaugh, I continue to hear it's likely he stays in NCAA. Texas AM coach Mike Sherman, however @JasonLaCanfora: Could be headed back to NFL. 57-39 NFL record. Still only in his mid-50s. HOU and CLE would be logical landing spots. Keep an eye on that

This is ridiculous. What has Kubiak done that McNair believes hes earned yet another year? I cant wait to watch this team start 5-7 next year. McNair needs to realize when its time to move on.
Doesnt matter what Gary has or hasnt done. Gary and Bob are good friends and that's all you need to know of why Gary will still be around
HoustonTexans.com responded to my email: "Thank you for sending us your thoughts on Mr. McNair and our organization's coaching staff. Your input is appreciated." lol I wasn't outrageous or anything (no swearing or personal insults), but I was very blunt. I did say that McNair is going to be seen as a fraud if he doesn't pull out all the stops after nine seasons of frustration and failure.
Wont happen. That is the point. When Kubiak goes 9-7 again. The chant will be. . . WHO ELSE IS BETTER???? [Because Cowher and Gruden will have jobs by then] Rocket River
I know this is just wishful thinking, but since that's all we have left, could this be part of McNair's grand scheme? Keep Kubiak for another year while all the CBA nonsense gets straightened out? Meanwhile, bring in Bum's son to implement the 3-4 in preperation for Cowher in 2012? I know I'm really reaching here, but you never know.... EDIT: I find it interesting that all 3 teams on Cowher's "wish list" have decided to keep their HC's and that all 3 will no doubt be on the hot seat in 2011.
The only crappy thing is that we would have to (once again...) spend all next season hoping to lose and hoping the Giants and/or Dolphins both turn it around.
You know damned well there will be an excuse at the end of this "make or break" season and Kubiak will be back. It'll be "well, the defense is still the problem, we just need to give Wade another year to work with them. Changing coaches and systems is traumatic and we need to give him a full two years for him to implement his system." And if there's a lockout, there's even more reason to trot out the excuse that we need another year of Kubiak/Phillips to see if it works or not. Cowher might have been interested in 2010 but the Texans were content with mediocrity. Cowher might have been interested this year but the Texans are content with mediocrity. Cowher might be interested in 2012 but the Texans . . .
