Thanks, Matt! I was searching Calhoun's name, and saw that he said no to the now-open Broncos job. Great insight and take into his loyalties to Air Force and Kubiak along with Sherman's possible loyalties to A&M. Hadn't thought about the DC that Jackson would bring with him, but the experienced coordinator angle is one to really consider. Maybe Wade would do it because he's so non-confrontational. If this is the definitive list, keep Kubiak and hire on a stud DC who could see himself as coach-in-waiting for 2011.
hey Mark Cuban, It's in my DNA to hate you because you own the mavs, but how about buying an NFL Franchise? I'm starting to not like tio bob. I'm just going to pretend that the houston media is just throwing out names to spike interest to their blogs.
Keeping GK is not really my assertion. I think it's tough to defend keeping either guy at this point. I've been on record as pro-Schottenheimer with a Rivera/Lewis/Edwards DC that would take over in 5 years as HC. Marty would build the offense around Foster and fix the defense quickly. I don't think Marty has a chance, but that's who I would be calling.
SI_PeterKing Hearing anything on Houston and potential candidates? ... Was told today: "Don't fire Kubiak yet. You might be wrong.''
interesting call. outside conventional thinking but still bringing in a proven "playoff" commodity and building for the future. moreover, it probably wouldn't break the bank. all in all, i've heard worse scenarios from sports radio personalities (uhem uhem barry bald ass warner)
Again, I think the Texans need a complete overhaul... that includes no John McClain, no sportsradio 610, no stupid radio blowhard personalities. Complete revamp.
I'm glad Matt chimed in. That makes me feel better. Just another reason to not like Warner (assuming it really is BS).
Yeah after Matt chimed in, I'm starting to believe the Texans leaked that info to SR610 as a way to soften everyone's stance on Kubiak. They were playing nothing but pro Kubiak calls during the Eric Winston show.
Just checked out the current score on the MIN vs. PHI game, and Fraizer has his team up by 10 on the road against one of the best team in the NFC, with 4 minutes left to go in reg. This got me thinking about the temp for HC who's been fired during the season; how exactly does being a interim HC work? Do they release the interim at the end of the season, does he get regulated back to being a coordinator? I never paid attention to this in past season when a team is in this situation, but I can't imagine someone going back to being a coordinator for the same team if he had at least some moderate success at being their temp HC, but doesn't get offered a permanent job at it. I mean, if no other team offered him a gig as their HC as well, does one usually returned to the same team at his previsous position? I know they said that no HC would want to step down and be a coord. for the new HC, would it be the same for an interim HC? Just to clarify, I'm not pushing for Fraizer as our next HC, just curious on a scenario like this. Also, wouldn't mind if Frazier came to the Texans as DC, if he decides not to return to the Vikings.
Let's also keep in mind that Barry Warner is the same guy who GUARANTEED in 2009 that Vince Young would be a Houston Texan in 2010. 31 minutes ago via TweetDeck http://twitter.com/HoustonDiehards Hope this calms some people down
Don't think it was Warner that got most of us panicking, it was when LZ semi-confirmed he heard something that freaked us out.
Could be all smoke/premature speculation, but it could also be that Rick Smith has convinced McNair to let him be the all powerful Pres/GM of the team and wants to hire two coordinators, neither of which would be a true head coach over the entire team. We'll see...but it seems as though McNair is determined to keep it cheap and ignore the fact that the right answer is in 30-foot neon in front of him. He's thisclose to becoming Drayton2 in my eyes. Haven't spent a dime on the Lastros in a couple years, and will extend that to the Texans after 9 years going to all the home games if he convinces me that winning is just a nice bonus if it happens.
^^Oh, he's FAR worse than Drayton at this point...IMO. On second thought, I don't know....at least Uncle D is trying to get out, though. It's almost as if he's had enough of the criticism. You know he "hears" it. McNair, I think, is completely immune.
