If those reports end up being true, it will be perfectly clear that McNair has no desire to field a winning product. He will be firing Kubiak as PR move and making a lateral move by hiring either Jackson or Calhoun.
scary to think, team wins sunday, keeps kubiak, and we could be happier than if they hire one of the guys on their "short list."
Calhoun was a former Texans OC, but he didn't overlap with Rick Smith. Sherman was then promoted to the OC for Smith's first year as Texans GM. Hue Jackson, his bio says he's an offensive guy who has experience working with the Bengals, Ravens, and now Raiders. I understand the first two names, not too sure about the third. Hopefully more names will be announced shortly.
I'm not buying into this. If either of those coaches are brought in there would be a universal outrage with the fans. It would be terrible for business and I would see a huge drop in season ticket sales.
season ticket sales will never go down, there is a waiting list for the tickets. If those three coaches are in the running, Bob is being cheap.
I know you're just the messenger, but all of his "sources" speak Japanese. A big fat BS on the coach names.
Hey Matt, LZ has sort of confirmed the Calhoun and Jackson names, do you know if they have the same sources? Media wars!! Just like in Pony Exce$$ 610 vs. 790 vs. 1560 vs. Scoop Berman - bring it!
Troy Calhoun already declined interest in 2 NFL jobs and 3 college jobs. All indications are that he is an Air Force lifer. Beyond that, if the owner/GM think Kubiak sucks why would you bring in his assistant? I also don't think Calhoun would want the job right after Gary. He has too much class for that. Plus Gary's friends are going to make it known to guys like Troy how badly Rick is throwing people under the bus even though he is a huge part of the problem. Mike Sherman would be leaving a pre-season top 15 team right as he is about to be close to level footing with his rivals in Austin. The Aggies might have to raise his salary a touch, but it strikes me that Sherman is at his dream job right now. Hue Jackson has done well at Oakland this year as OC, but to me the idea of brigning in an offensive minded head coach is F'ing stupid. Hue Jackson is not going to bring in an experienced DC. Do you think Marvin Lewis or Ron Rivera or Donnie Henderson is going to work under a 1st time head coach when they probably think they are more qualified to do the job? Of the 3 names, I would give Sherman the slightest of chances and even still if that's Bob's final answer, holy crap is this team pathetic.
Reading the three names thrown out there for HC has literally made me sick to my stomach. If McNair expects fans to be on board with that garbage, he's sadly mistaken. I would rather keep Kubiak if McNair is going to blow it that big. McNair can't be that dumb can he?
