I just saw it but I will say John Clayton is an idiot, he's the same guy that said chemistry didn't matter and it was all about talent when talking about the Cowboys before the season. I don't believe anything that guy says and no one should.
Why would a high profile coach want to share authority with the Owner's pet GM? Rick needs to be shown the door, along with the rest of the staff.
Maybe somebody heard that A.J. Smith was staying on as the GM in San Diego and got confused. We can only hope.
There is so much at stake here with this coaching decision. The problem is that the solution is so attainable and so possible, yet we are forced to sit here while Bobby Boy scratches his head a few times mulling over other options that shouldnt even be considered. Frustration at its best. FML, I deserve better.
Futile, I know...but I just had to email the org. through HoustonTexans.com. fanfeedback@houstontexans.com Drop 'em a quick line. Why not?
That poster on TexansTalk needs to be tarred and feathered. There has been NO confirmation on anything, and it was just John Clayton spewing his nonsense to hear himself talk. I repeat, NOTHING has been confirmed.
Only a rumor as far as we know but going back to Rick Smith staying, Kubiak going, this even more disturbing imo(if true) @LanceZierlein We(or rather Bob) still wants that guy leading the pack?!
From TT.com: Luckily, it was just Clayton throwing a "suggestion" out there. Would hate the combination though. The Dallas media doesn't call Wade's training camps "Camp Cupcake" for nothing. Wade will only work with a strong HC (like Cowher).
This strikes to the heart of what has gone wrong with the Texans. Gary and his staff have a system, and they know how to find guys to function in that system: Walter, Daniels, Dreessen, Myers, Smith, etc. They don't need to reach for talent because they know their system can take guys with less than superstar talent and make them functional. With the defense, they have no system, no identity, no way of knowing what pieces will fit. Brian Cushing and Connor Barwin were probably Frank Bush selections. Bush was raving at how Cushing is the perfect LB for what he was wanting to do with the defense. A Bill Romanowski LB (without the steroids, snicker). I'm guessing that one of the following: Smith, Bush, or Gibbs Jr. made the call on Kareem Jackson. Okoye, Cushing, Barwin, and Jackson are all high picks, selected under the Smith regime that have failed to pan out for one reason or another. Wake up, Bob!
On one hand, you don't want other teams on Cowher's supposed wish list to compete for him. So, Go Giants! On the other hand, if McNair isn't going to pay for Cowher under any circumstances, maybe Coughlin would be a suitable option. In which case, Go Redskins!
I guess, I'm not real big on Coughlin. Would prefer to go after Gruden if we can't land Cower. Go Miami?
