Well wanted to bring my feedback from the game......

First, Texans will not go to the playoffs without a personnel change in the secondary IMO. I am a Cowboys fan, but trust me, if Roy E Williams makes you look bad, then you really really are I think the Cowboys were glad the Texans ran the ball so much. The Cowboys are strong against the Run and the Texans are more used to playing 4-3 Defenses. I though Foster played great and really he is a good find. But I think they were happy that the Texans were more balanced and less eager to assert the vertical passing game. (Where Cowboys make penalties or just cant hang with AJ).

The CB Quinn played well against Miles. The most impressive thing I took away from the game in regards to the Cowboys is I thought the blitz was well planned and effective all game. I still think the Texans finish with a better record than Dallas. But if the Cowboys make it out of their schedule with a playoff berth (and healthy team) They are more prepared than the Texans to make a long run into the playoffs (Because of experience and a better Defense).

Time to resign Reeves. I've seen Jackson get burnt each week. Against the Skins he was lucky the receiver dropped a wide open endzone pass, and he does not seem to be improving. We need some sort of veteran presence at the position, even if it's just a dimeback.

It's not all Jackson though. People are really hard on him. Eugene Wilson has not been doing his job over the top. It's time to put in Troy Nolan.

yep, as bad as he was at never turning around to look for the ball near the endzone, his coverage skills were not bad, and it make the safeties jobs a helluva lot easier

Jackson is the single worst starter on the defense right now and it is not even close. If Wilson stopped every play over the top, there would still be consistent 10-15 yard gains over Jackson. You cannot blame Wilson for Jackson getting beat within 2 yards of the line of scrimmage every single play. A great safety cannot make up for even the worst cornerbacks. You can blame Wilson for his complete ineptitude when it comes to catching a ball thrown at his hands on numerous occasions.

I'm not ready to give up on our rookie CB 3 games into his career. But it would be nice to have someone else who could start and have him in nickel situations only for a while.

What in the world is up with Antwaun Molden? Has the guy played a down since 2008? If he's perpetually injured, why is he on the roster?

They made mention on the radio before the game that he was active last week, first time in a while I think.

I'm not giving up on him, he was a first round pick, he is a huge investment and showed he could play in college. But right now, he is hurting this team a ton, he simply is not ready right now. I would like to see Brice McCain start next week and for the next few weeks. Besides that one atrocious TD play, he was not that bad on Sunday.

As for Molden, I don't think I have ever even seen him play on the defense. I have never seen a player get hurt as often as him. I honestly dont know how he is still on the roster.

I guess giving up on a player after 3 games is working for Philly
    *grin*

Dunte = Mike Vick of defense LOL

Seriously . . . i think it is an overreation

    Food for thought.

Our DBs are pretty much entirely dependent on our DL and, to a certain extent, our O.

    Game 1:

We ran the ball, kept Peyton off the field, and forced them to play catch-up football. This protected our DBs for the most part by allowing us to make the Colts one dimensional. Even though Peyton put up a lot of yards, it wasn't efficient, nor was it fun for him (our DL pwn3d him).

    Game 2:

In the 1st half our offense sputtered so we fell behind, thus forcing us out of "ball control" mode, and we got very little pressure on Donny Mac so he burned us. 2nd half, our O kicked into gear and we started really harassing their QB (Mario went beast mode), all the sudden our DBs looked a lot better. Even though Donovan got a lot of yards, they weren't very efficient after the 1st half.

These are yards that I am willing to surrender, because they lead to good field position and turnovers (i.e. opponents pressing the pass, abandoning the run, Mario eats their lunch and bangs their girlfriends)

    Game 3:

This was literally like the 1st half of Game 2, only extended for the entire 60 minutes. We couldn't get pressure on Romo, and our offense couldn't convert 3rd downs or red zone attempts. It was a perfect storm to expose our DBs.

    Conclusion:

The only way to cover up for the deficiencies in our secondary are to 1) run the ball effectively and convert red zone and 3rd down opportunities and 2) pressure the opposing QB. If we don't do those two things, we will lose almost every single time. Arian and Mario, may not be the most talented guys on our team, but I'd argue they are the two most important ones given our current situation with the defensive backfield.

I'm not exactly going to defend him, but I'm not going to rip on Kareem Jackson. He's exactly who he was when we drafted him: a physical CB that managed only a single INT in each of his last two seasons at Alabama. You want to get mad at someone, get mad at Kubiak, Bush, and Smith who drafted him and put him out there. Also, it isn't super, but he is leading the team in pass deflections (a paltry 3 total).

The brass decided they were fine with a secondary consisting of two hitters with iffy cover skills, a washed up free safety that can't get to spots or make plays on the ball, a decent CB, and a decent backup CB.

I don't miss Dunta - he was getting clowned by receivers last year. His game against Chad Johnson was embarrassing. He could lay a hit, but that was all he could do well.

I'm also going to say that our offense cost us the game Sunday, not the defense. They had done fine in the first half. This team is built to win via scoring, and when Schaub, Winston, and Dennison lay such a massive egg that we're working off of 2 FGs....we're toast.

Don't forget showboating after the hit. Sure, the QB would just quick-snap the next play for a 40 yard gain, but that doesn't matter.

You guys actually believe that a team that has done nothing in the off season but resign its own players, add Brad Miller (yawn) and a player who's coming off (yet another) injury is a legitimate 3 seed in the Western Conference? That would put them ahead of LA, Dallas, Utah, SA, Portland, OKC and even Denver. Riiiight! That must be some great tasting Rockets red koolaid...

    Lakers aren't a top 2 seed?

I honestly believe, today, that we have very good odds of beating out Portland, Utah, and SA in the standings. All 3 of them are sliding downward, Denver is teetering on the edge of the Grand Canyon, and we look significantly better than we did at the start of last year:

    Yao/Miller/ (Dampier?)/Hill
    Scola/Patterson/Hayes/Jeffries
    Chase/Battier
    Martin/Lee
    Brooks/Lowry

    vs

    Hayes/Andersen/Dorsey
    Scola/Landry
    Battier/Chase
    Ariza/Taylor/(Ghost of McGrady)
    Brooks/Landry

I'm not yapping 2/3 seed...but it's possible. I think a 4 seed is very gettable as the team stands. The West is slipping. LA, OKC, and Dallas look formidable. Nearly everyone else has gotten worse, some teams in a big way (Phoenix). Hornets avoided disaster, look a little better in their starting 5, but their depth is nonexistent.

They don't look any different to me except they now have Brad Miller (Whoo-Hoo) and tenderfoot coming back. I see them as a 6th or 7th seed behind your 3 teams plus Utah and Portland. Sorry but I have to see this work on the court before I buy into their making such a huge leap from being a lotto team to a top playoff seed in the West. No red koolaid for me...

BTW, I believe that I have seen Dampier more than anyone here and if the Rockets are STUPID enough to sign Erica, they deserve what's going to happen. LOL at the Ghost Of McGrady. Remember: It's on him...

Your opinion is your own, I respect that. I just see it differently. I think a full season with
-reasonable size at the center position,
-swapping out a volume shooting mess (Ariza) for one of the most efficient scorers in the league (Martin - only 24 games with us last year and needed several before he began to mesh),
-and finally having the black cloud of locker poison expunged

All improve the team by 8-10 wins, especially with half the Western Conference getting worse. I see two teams behind us that got better (NOH, SAC) and 5 teams above that don't look as good.

I'll split the middle and say the Rockets should finish as the 4, 5, or 6 seed, baring any major surprises.

And if they do eventually flip Jeffries and the Knicks picks for an impact player? Contender status.
