Pretty much saw this coming all week. That's why I didn't partake in any pregame cowboys smack. The more people talked about us going to the Superbowl or having the best offense in the NFL, the more I thought to myself "oh, boy...." I'm not going to lie - it would've been fun to beat the cowboys, but I'm not exactly devastated this morning. This wasn't a division game or even a conference game. I'd much rather lay an egg against an NFC team in Week 3 than a division opponent in Week 12. This may even be a blessing in disguise. Bring us back down to earth after the irrational expectations after starting 2-0. We still have major problems to be addressed and I think the 2-0 start kind of temporarily covered them up. I kind of agree with cowboy fans who say this isn't a real rivalry. We play every 4 years. I was much more devastated after losing to the t*** at home last year. This loss doesn't even compare to that one. We can still be 5-1 at the bye and we can still go 5-1 against the division. Neither one of those are too far fetched IMO.
Agreed...i will admit I was surprised the cowboys put it together, but it was bound to happen...Although not a true rivalry game, it is pretty cool to have the instate game played and honestly, wish it happened more often..the cowboys have a long way to go but I think this is just what the texans needed to refocus and get back on track... and this is true of any QB, when given enough time, anyone could carve up any secondary...that was evident in the game...
what happened to the bootleg? i don't remember them running more than 1 which almost got OD in the endzone. Dallas bit hard on it. i just thought the playcalling left alot to be desired.
Usually the morning after a loss, I wake up feeling dread for the week ahead. But this morning, I find myself in a much better mood. We're 2-1, we play the Raiders next, and the things the team is going to be criticized for this week will be very, very well deserved. They laid an egg yesterday, but it's week 3, and it came against an NFC opponent. They obviously have a lot of things to work on stemming from the Redskins game, but it's not anything too insurmountable. I think the presence of Cushing will be a tremendous boost for these guys, and I'm expecting the front 7 to go back to form quickly. I don't think anybody figured the Texans would go 4-0 against the NFC East, so a loss was coming within that division one way or another. My biggest problem is HOW the team lost.....they really stopped being competitive after our first red zone trip ended in a field goal. Our defense played lights out in the first half, but then got dominated in the second. The Cowboys were pretty much allowed to run any play they wanted because the front 4 got absolutely no push. Kareem Jackson has looked terrible so far, and Wilson looks like his best days are behind him. I wouldn't mind seeing Nolan get some real playing time starting next week. The thing is, guys like Pollard and Jackson are what they are....big, physical guys who will knock you to next Sunday, but only AFTER you make the catch. We really only have one guy on this team that can be considered strong at covering and that's Quin....that's the way Bush has built this defense, so now we ride with what we have. And our offense....yikes. That was atrocious. Schaub and company have their work cut out for them this week. Something tells me Kubiak is going to be really hard on them at practice. Part of the reason for Schaub's inconsistent play has been the O-line, but I also see his passes being a little off even when he IS getting the time. That interception that he threw to Jenkins yesterday was a good 4 yards beyond Andre's reach....that ball had no chance of being a completion. Arian Foster was the lone bright spot on an otherwise bad day. Eric Winston needs to wake the eff up. Outside of the Colts game, he's played like utter garbage so far. With all that being said, I still think the Texans stock is up. We go to Oakland this week where we SHOULD handle business.....for all our glaring weaknesses, we are still 100% more talented than the Raiders. 3-1 with Cushing coming back is something I think every Texans fan would take in a heartbeat. Now, it's just a matter of getting it done.
I agree with most of your post, but I think the play above was more about being a crappy play-call. Schaub was trying to throw a jumpball to AJ, but why call that play when you know AJ is playing on a bum ankle? My biggest problem was the goal-line offense. 0-2 inside the 10. (the 1 at the end doesn't count) Just horrible play-calling in the red zone, as usual. With our finesse O-line (hello, ZBS..), I don't know why we kept trying to shove it down the defense's throat. And that fade route to Walter...that had NO CHANCE of being completed. Why no play-action pass to the fullback? That play is money on the goal-line. We just have no imagination in the red zone. We either have to score TD's via big play, or just settle for FG's. Oh yeah, and Foster should've got more than 17 carries for the game. He averaged 6 ypc. GIVE HIM THE BALL.
I'm so ****ING PISSED at all the TEXANS so-called "Fans" who sold their tickets to Dallas Cowboy fans get profit to make a buck. You know they did it for that reason alone... and the stadium was loud every time Dallas scored.
yeah there were a ton of Boyz fans.....altho, they seem to travel everywhere pretty well.....ive been to Giants- Cowboys games and there are a decent amt of cowboy fans in the bldg cant really blame the fans when they are being offered crazy prices....a guy w the same seats as mine sold his for 1000 a piece in the end, its not the fans that decided the outcome
Traveling from Houston to Houston (many more cowboy fans here than in NY) isn't really "travel everywhere pretty well". Another scenario someone threw out was that they were REALLY cowboy fans who go to Texans games, but are against Texans once Dallas comes to play. Still SUCKS to hear them louder than the "home" crowd.
Exactly, totally unimaginative and unresponsive. The Bears gave you the blueprint. Too bad it was the Cowboys that used it on offense and not the Texans.
To be fair, Andre hurt his ankle last week as well and then made the spectacular endzone play on a go route. Also, depending on the sprain, the most painful thing is cutting and/or changing direction - anything that involves pivoting on the ankle. Going straight ahead tends to be the easiest thing, so a simple route might actually have been easier for him than anything else.
you must not have very many dallas friends... i cant stand losing to those bastards. the only other team i despise losing to as much as dallass would be tennessee and even then my hatred is about even. ******* choking texans
True, but last week he went to the end zone and just waited for the ball. The play yesterday was designed to hit him in stride. As best as I could tell, anyway. If not, it was WAY overthrown. On the replay, it looked like AJ stuttered a bit on the route - perhaps because of the ankle. Matt is usually pretty accurate, so I assume AJ was just supposed to beat his man to the ball. That's a lot to ask of him after re-injuring his ankle earlier in the game. Me too. When I said "as usual" I was more referring to last year, since this season is only 3 games old. Eh, I wouldn't call it a choke job at all. Yes, we laid an egg, but the cowboys are tough to beat when they are on. Problem (for them) is, they are hardly ever on. Like I said, I save all my hate for the t***. When the cowboys and t*** play in 2 weeks, you can bet I'll be rooting for Jerry and Co. Hell, I hate the t*** so much I may even go buy a Romo jersey to wear just for that week!
It was way louder for Houston then it was for Dallas, Houston fans just had less to cheer for. Whenever Dallas had the ball you could hear the Texans fans making a lot of noise. It was relatively quite when Houston had the ball on offense like it should be.
