both of these teams are nowhere close to being great teams. the cowboys are my team but they just lack that "it" that can get them over the hump--and i think that's mostly due to the inept coaching. they have the talent to be SB contenders but garrett and wade are just pathetic. texans have A LOT of talent offensively. schaub can be a great QB, but he just lacks that "it" factor. this was a game where he could put his name on the map. nevertheless, their offense will rebound and they'll win games. their downside will be their D, esp. the secondary. the only way they'll make the playoffs is by the wild card. colts got this division again.
Remember 2007, the texans started 2-0 and lost to the colts. At 2-1 they were playing the falcons, AJ was sitting down but everyone said the texans can beat the falcons without him. They lost. I'm afraid this'll be repeat of 2007
I'll give my two cents about Wilson and Jackson... Jackson has been atrocious. Yes, he's a rookie, but that doesnt mean we should judge him lighter than a player like Quin. Fact of the matter is that Jackson is the weakest link of the secondary. Just notice how many times teams are throwing to his side. Its almost laughable. Wilson is below average back there. Not quite as bad as Jackson, but his play is bad enough where we need to upgrade that position ASAP. I wouldnt mind giving Nolan a shot because Nolan makes plays. Seems like Wilson is just there. I dont know if Jackson's shortcomings so far are things that coaching will straighten out...we'll have to wait and see for that. One thing is for sure, that guy has a lot of work ahead of him if he wants to stick around this league for a number of years. I do have to say that I enjoyed that shot of him on the sideline where he slammed his helmet...at least shows that he has some competitive fire. Thats a start.
it seemed like the offense forgot about the slant. the 5-7 drop back wasn't working all day and the cowboys were getting serious pressure. i would think a quick slant negates that. i think there was only one of those.
I believe this team is better then the 2007 version, not saying your not right but if this team is as good as I think/hope they are then they can overcome this adversity to pull off the "W".
Cowgirls LBs did a good job dropping back and taking away the slants, I think on one Schaub sack he wanted to pass a slant to AJ but Brookings dropped back and didn't give Schaub a clean alley to throw a pass to AJ.
3-4 defense kills us again. We have to get better in this regard. Are we facing any other teams besides the Ravens and Jets that run the 3-4?
We carved up Washington's 3-4 last week, in the 2nd half at least. Not sure it was the scheme that beat us today....they just didn't execute at all.
Washington Dallas Kansas City San Diego New York Jets Baltimore Ravens Denver Broncos so almost half the teams we play this year
kinda hard to adjust when the entire secondary needs to be replaced I'm willing to give kareem the benefit of the doubt since it's only 3 games into the season and we ALL knew he would get picked on as a rookie. It's very rare that a corner from college will be able to hold his own as a rookie in the NFL. Those players that do are pretty rare. And watching the Jets game tonight, Kyle Wilson wasn't doing any better either. And those sports writers out there who are calling the Texans foolish for letting Dunta go during the off season - they haven't watched enough games because Dunta was getting burned EVERY SINGLE TIME and he's been in the league for a good while. If he wasn't getting burned, it was pass interference. The Texans secondary is horrific outside of Pollard. The front 7 have to be able to rush the qb but they can only do so much. Texan's secondary will be their undoing. I just hope they can make it to the playoffs this year.
Glover Quin had an excellent game today. He essentially shut down Miles Austin and was very good at stopping the run on the outside. But a secondary with 50% crap is a gigantic liability
yeah my bad totally forgot about Quin since the Cowboys were picking on Kareem every time down the field.
Arian Foster going bananas the first game Texans working magic the 2nd game. I'm glad for Foster's success and the team's. Great momentum builders and something for the fans to cheer for (and fantasy football players to appreciate). But false sense of greatness thinking you can outgun your opponents every week. It took away focus from the dreadful pass defense the Texans had coming into the game. By far the MOST pass yards given up of all teams in the league. (Which is kinda misleading since they face passing offenses.) But still, Texans had also given up the most yards per play and 2nd most yards per pass attempt in the league. While having the 2nd FEWEST turnovers forced (only 1) and NO INTS on the season. Dunta needed to be off the team- bad play + bad attitude + bad contract demands = adios. Its about who you replace him with. I dont expect Kareem Jackson to struggle all year. It'd be nice to have a CB with experience on the team, though. Jacques Reeves would even be a decent option to turn to
I don't know about that one. There hasn't been a single good signing for the secondary thus far except for Pollard.
