Will be fun to read all the overreaction to this I guess. Everything went against this team today, at least they can get back focused. They'll be playing the raiders so not a big game where the spotlight is on them. They can get back to doing what they do best. The Texans identity is an offensive football team...when that team goes out and puts up 6 points (because the last TD was garbage time) then a loss is to be expected. Hell if you're a defensive team and put up 6 points you better expect a loss. I really don't think Dallas defense is THAT good, I think the Texans had a bad gameplan. Looking too much for the long pass and not the short dip and dunks that the Bears used on Dallas. Also when they did get in the RZ crucial penalties made sure the team didn't score. Had they scored...maybe the defense would have stepped up...because i'm sure it's added motivation for them to see the team only down a few points and knowing a stop can help them get the lead back.
losing to the cowpokers notwithstanding, a loss is maybe what we need to magnify our weaknesses that needed to be worked on, no hiding around it now with a Loss kareem getting burned repeatedly is going to put Kubes in a tough spot, do you abandon the rookie for some no name who won't be the long term answer anyways, or do you continue to coach him up and see if he turns a corner? (no pun intended)
The ones that are saying to literally cut Kareem Jackson after 3 regular season games are exposing their lack of sports knowledge. Yes, he has played like #$*& but you want to cut a ROOKIE corner back that you've invested first round resources on after only a handful of games when our secondary as a whole is not very good? Oh yea, these guys don't need time to develop and have no room for growth. Also, our defense runs heavy 3 corner sets, so yea that would be a good idea to cut Jackson have midget McCain and Glover Quin move up the charts and have SHARRICK MCMANNIS take his spot..haha sign me up for that one!
UT fans on clutchfans = sore losers who think it's about them and can't find a UT board just like Cowgirls fans on this board. suck it, UT lost.
Brice McCain should start the next game. That play he gave up to Roy Williams was inexcusable, but he was not that bad otherwise. At least not Jackson bad
It's very easy to get on Kareem when the only guy that has looked good back there is Pollard. Our FS is trash, garbage. Quinn is alright, he's covering the guy but he has rarely made a play on the ball to break up a pass. I have a feeling if he doesn't improve he'll just be Jacque Reeves dos... look for the ball...make a play on it dude. I actually think Kareem has a lot of potential, the problem is his speed and he's going to need a defensive front 4 that constantly gets pressure and a NFL quality cover safety that can make up for these guys mistakes. Kareem rarely goes out there and makes huge mental mistakes.
I don't follow NFL personnel like I do the MLB and NBA. Are there any trade prospects that could materialize sooner than later as far as mid-level, veteran secondary talent is concerned? We've faced some strong aerial attacks coming right out, but this is getting ridiculous. A big fat ZERO interceptions, constant burns on our CBs, wide open receivers with secondary seemingly out of position... With this bunch, I just see no hope in our team being a true contender. Our offense is A+, but you HAVE to have SOME semblance of a pass coverage in this era of the NFL.
as well as they played and as bad as the texans played, they only won by 2 scores. not bad really. The Cowpokes did not really impress me
as is Dez. i'm not so sure the Cowboys are any better than mediocre as a team, but when Roy holds on to the ball, damn if they don't have three, maybe more, excellent receivers. Dez makes the game look so slow- the only other receiver i've seen (recently) who really has that quality is Moss. not saying he's at that level yet, but he has a chance to be really special.
Cowboys haven't played well all season. And this game is no different. Texans just sucked. Cowboys need to step up their running game
It's not that he has absolutely no speed at all. It's that the long plays he gets behind, this is usually when a FS worth any salt would help out but we don't have that. I think Kareem is a really smart player that has the tools to be a good CB in this league. But he's not obviously going to be a Revis-Aso guy who can shut down guys regardless of the pass rush he has or the safety help. Kareem is going to only play as well as the defense. That's who I feel about it. Lets find a way to get a good cover safety and improve our rush and I think Kareem will be one of the better players on this team. As it stands now he's just going to get attacked and attacked, guess by year two he'll either have his confidence completely destroyed or he'll be focused on improving.
instead it's the cowgirls that are 1-2, you are what your record is like the cowgirls showed everybody who the real cowgirls today lol, they're a hot and cold team
Honestly: I fully expected something like this to happen. I have been warning about the desperate state of the Cows all week. They did exactly what I expected - run the ball and keep the Houston offense on the bench. And I fully expect them to beat the wretched Raiders next week and go 3-1. But to accept this loss is to do nothing more than settle for yet another Houston failure to seize the day. This game was a(nother) wasted opportunity for this team and to make a statement to the rest of the league that the Texans are for real. Instead, they came out and fell flat on their collective butts again. Don't misunderstand me: the Cows were a desperate team on the verge of losing everything and they played like one. When you face a team like that, you have to redouble your efforts to put it away. Instead the Texans appeared to approach this game with the same old "even if we lose, we're OK" mindset that I have come to expect. The next time anyone here wants to complain about the Texans getting no respect in the state and without, they should think back to this game and the reason why that is so should be crystal clear. So what did we get today? An offense that sputtered and a defense that imitated shredded wheat. I am beyond disappointed in the Texans' defense. After all the time, money and draft picks devoted to that side of the ball, THIS is the best we can get? Romo faced only token pressure from the DL and I'm being generous here. The secondary was beyond atrocious and again I'm being nice. The less said about "creamed" Jackson, the better. And I don't want to hear anything more about Mario Williams being a "beast" because the true beast on the field today was Demarcus Ware. I have to ask: Is it too much to expect that level of play from Mario? After all, he was only the first pick in the ENTIRE 2006 draft. If Mario is any kind of beast it's the Cheshire cat who disappears when things get tough. All in all, this loss magnified all of the weaknesses I continue to see in this team and unless they can do something quick about that defense the only way they will go to the playoffs will be to buy themselves a ticket.
in week 3, yeah there are 16 games in a season, just to let you know btw what happened to you not posting anymore in this thread after that captain obvious analysis you made.
I'm a UT, Cowboys, Astros, and Rockets fan. I usually just browse the Texans portion of it because I really don't have any business replying to topics that don't have to do with my favorite team. But when I see someone try to attempt to make my favorite football team look bad after a game like that... I can't exactly help myself. Just like you can't exactly help yourself from being bitter about losing to a better football team. What? They lost? NO WAY Thank you for replying with that, though, because that has absolutely everything to do with the Cowboys-Texans game.
I thought those were called Safeties!!! When a corner loses a step . . you move him to Safety If he has no speed .. .then Safety is where he needs to be Rocket River
