Situations are eerily similar. My usual football watching has completely changed this year, it's all Baylor and TCU. That's really the only football I feel compelled to watch. I will catch the beginning at least of the UT/OU game, crazy things have been known to happen there, but if it goes as expected I'm out at some point.

Hopkins is a beast. Could've had 200+ yards if not for the penalties.

or the fact that he drops or steps out of bounds with a catchable deep ball once a game

OK and then what do you do next? Please explain how firing Crennel will magically cause other teams to stop doubling Watt & Clowney. This whining is truly pathetic. So I suppose that after watching Watt raise havoc all last year, other teams were just supposed to "throw up their hands" and concede defeat. Let me ask you this: If the shoe was on the other foot, would YOU be satisfied it the Texans did the same? Or would you be screaming for them to come up with a means to minimize or negate what he (and Clowney) does best? Sheesh! They pay the other team and its coaches also and what we are seeing is part of the natural ebb and flow of the NFL OK, so the opposing teams have developed a counter strategy. It's now up to the Texans defensive staff to come up with an answer to this strategy but they won't be able to do this if everyone gets fired over the weekend.

Well, you'd look to replace RAC with someone that can come up with a plan to exploit the fact that they are doubling Watt and Clowney. A good DC would be able to exploit that within the game the first time it's done because that's just a ton of resources dedicated to only 2 defensive palyers.....RAC still hasn't figured out what to do about it. Pull that nonsense on a Wade Phillips team and he'd kill you for it.

A bad team is always to find a way to lose. There were so many stupid penalties on this team, you can see this kind of things on UT too, but you rarely see it on a team like Patriots. What an embarrassment for the city.

Two years ago, they went 2-14 with a Wade Phillip's coached defense that was one of the worst in the league (and included JJ Watt having a fantastic season). You've cheerleaded basically every move the Texans have made the last 2 years and this is where the Texans are. Perhaps you should re-evaluate your ability to understand how to build a good football team.

If you were paying attention at the time, I was very against moving away from Wade Phillips. In the end, I decided to give RAC the benefit of the doubt, as I do most moves, but RAC proved that he's just not a competent DC.

Wilfork is at the end of his career. Pats let him go because they thought he wasn't a 3 down player (ie. passing downs). It might not be as bad as Ed Reed, but we're not getting what we expected out of Wilfork. He's getting pushed around a bit and isn't commanding multiple blockers, which is basically his job. And notice how most of Gore's last night were up the middle.

Gore last night and Freeman last week. The Texans are getting killed in the run game and that's just completely unacceptable with the talent on the D. Bad scheme is the likely culprit

Oh yeah. They sealed off Wilfork a lot last night and run up the middle which is something Gore can still do. That really took the pressure off Hasselbeck which went a long way toward helping them win. This defense is being manhandled at the point of attack and that is what socks me most of all. They came in with a good strategy and I tip my hat to them.

The LB "talent" is suspect at best.

Cushing is high priced... but Mohammed would have been an upgrade and is a huge reason for the defensive fall off between last year and this year.

It's sad. This was supposed to be Cushing's comeback year and it just isn't happening. He's only 28. He should be in his prime. But due to his injuries, he's already well past it.

Texans can only save $2M by cutting him next year, but that might be enough to let him go.

Also, due to the lack of PED's.... he was on another level his rookie year compared to every other season since (even the ones right before injury).

Every year is supposed to be the year Cushing returns to form and everyone gets excited. If Cushing can return, this defense is gonna be stacked!

Reminds me of Derrick Rose in the NBA. Every year they say "If Derrick can return to form. . ."

    Sorry, it's not happening guys.

Not next year. I fully expect Cushing to be cut. Same thing with Joseph. Probably with Foster too. It's time to move on.
