People, please.... They had an 11-play, 71-yard drive stopped by a Schaub pick that would have made it 41-0 early in the 4Q. Just to try and give a little perspective - the day's other blowouts: Buffalo's 41-7 victory? They led 20-7 at the half. Philadelphia's 31-13 victory? They led 17-10 at the half. Baltimore? 21-7. Add up *all 3* halftime leads? It equals 34 points... you know, the Texans' halftime lead! This was a monumental blow-out. The team could have sent in fans to play and it wouldn't have made a difference. There is no issue with killer instinct or icing or anything else as a result of this game. It *may* be a problem... but not today. They absolutely rolled the Indianapolis Colts.
Do we have a definitive report on Walters; so far, there is conflicting information that he is basically just dinged up and/or he is out for weeks. Which is it?
And rubbing it in their faces may come back to haunt us later on. Remember the Glanville Oilers and the Wyche Bengals? You just never know. I'm perfectly fine with how the 2nd half played out, besides the fact that it was boring to watch as a fan.
I at least guessed the texans score without a problem! Congrats again texans fans, you guys did what you were supposed to do, which is win and in convincing fashion against a division opponent. I was impressed that the defense held up, and anyone complaining about the offense in the 2nd half is just trying to find a way to be negative. If the Texans can take it game-game, and not get too confident, there is no reason they shouldn't win the division this year. I would love to be proven wrong this year and finally see a Houston football team back in the playoffs. I won't pretend to be a bandwagon fan this year, but I am not rooting against them anymore, and hopefully I can accept them as my team next year!
http://www.chron.com/sports/texans/article/Texans-Walter-to-undergo-MRI-on-injured-2165737.php There isn't anything definitive yet.
Boy do we ever agree here. The Texans came out and played like they were shot out of a canon. The Colts looked beaten from the start and played like they wanted to be back home watching TV on the couch. But I don't think they deserve a mulligan for this pathetic performance at all. This is what happens when an organization fails to pay attention to detail. You simply cannot outrun your mistakes and the Colts have been piling them up in recent years. Their drafts have been mediocre and their defensive philosophy looks more and more obsolete with each passing game. Without Peyton to mask their offensive and defensive shortcomings, they were fully exposed yesterday. No sympathy for them at all - when you get a dog team that's down, you kick it and kick it HARD and that's exactly what the Texans did on Sunday. Kudos to them - it's been a long time coming.
I'm glad the texans did what they were supposed to do, handily beat a peytonless colts. I was afraid they were going to play down to the competition like they have in the past. That first half was awesome, despite the early mishap with the Schaub pick...wished AJ would have caught that though so he could have had his 100 yards to tie Jerry Rice. Ward started off the day well in the run game and Tate picked it right up. It's awesome to see Tate go for 100+ in his first nfl game. Second half it was clear that Texans went basic to not show too much of their playbook. It was great to see the secondary make plays, and like someone else mentioned, only hearing Jackson's name once was impressive.
Funny thing is .. i think their drafting of Defensive personel is where they miss Tony D most. As the Texans have learned. . . have a good talent evaluator is necessary Seeing the difference Wade made. .. just in the draft alone was enough to let you know that The Colts have been living on borrowed time. Mathis and Freeney are past their primes. They have no one coming in behind them. Bob Sanders should have been cut 2 yrs ago I don't think i can name anyone else on their defense The O-Line use to be the solid rock of Consistancy. Funny .. . but The difference in the Collins Colts versus the Peyton Colts is Like Watching the Cody Carlson Oilers versus the Warren Moon Oilers only worse!! Rocket River
My only real minor disappointment from yesterday was not hearing Connor Barwin or Brooks Reed's name called once. I know Reed barely got in the game, but I was hoping to see Barwin fly around the edge and get in Collins' face at least once. But I guess we can't have everything.
Yeah, i thought he played fairly well. Can't remember which play but i saw him absolutely blow up one O-lineman.
just had to say that i think it's comical to hear the people actually "upset" that the texans allowed a TD. I can understand the coolness of pitching a shut out, but to hear how some people are acting that it didn't happen is hilarious.
Blerg. That was a playoff game and those Bills teams were stacked with talent. Apples and bowling balls, imo. That Colt team yesterday could not have looked more disinterested. If there was any chance Collins was going to engineer 34 second-half points, there was nothing to suggest the Texans couldn't have stepped back on the gas.
So we win. And there are still complaints? Maybe we should have postponed the game until Manning got 100%. That way it's fair
I'm just saying. Nobody saw the former coming. You never know. Really I just thought it was funny for a Houston fan to consider a lead safe at halftime. The Texans only had one 3 & out in the second half, so they were doing what they wanted and draining the clock.
I thought the lead after the 1Q was safe. My only "Oh no..." moment was Schaub's first pick. That was the only way they could lose - give Collins a short field and not put points on the board. But that evaporated pretty quickly.
