Let me start by saying, I'm not posting to be a downer. I'm elated by the win, am ecstatic by the O- and D-line play (UNREAL), Vonta, Foster, and the mental fortitude the team showed after the Colts stole the momentum late in the second quarter. Ecstatic. Schaub had a poor outing yesterday, and thankfully it didn't matter. He had a nice drive, hitting 3 different guys (Jones, Johnson, Walter) and racked up most of his yards of the day right there. What I saw, repeatedly, were underthrown deep balls. He did a poor job leading his receiver on two plays in particular that would have been huge gains. Early, he badly underthrew (Johnson?) into double coverage and got bailed out with a hilariously dumb pass interference (should have been an easy INT but the defender decided shoving was a better idea). He had another in the second half to Johnson that would have been a runaway 6, but Johnson had to hold up and the pass was easily knocked away. His INT was a baffling bad decision. He needs to play better going forward, and I'm sure he will. Helps a ton if this running game is for real and they can set up the playaction, something this team has been great at in the past.
not to mention he really showed some potential last year in his limited plays...avg almost 5 per carry. he was a little off, yeah. Hell...his arm probably got cold from handing it off so much  I'm not worried at all about him. He does what he does...forces the ball in tight situtations and occasionally underthrows a deep ball. By and large, he is usually very accurate. He didnt have his best day but the texans still won....which is nice to be able to say.
I agree - and he's more than allowed to have a bad day or two in a 16 game season. It's great that one of those days happened to be when we exploded on the ground. I know he'll look a lot better next week.
I think it was a good thing he got his ext now. Because i think this offense will be alot more run oriented and it will look like AJ had a 'down' year Rocket River
true. sad that peopl ewill thin that since he is helping the running game AND help leaving Walters and Danials open by drawing saftery help to him

According to Kubiak, looks like the team will have tryouts tomorrow or the following day to replace Barwin. Certainly sounded like they will be signing a street FAgent. Also, he didn't sound like Schobel was going to be an option.
The good news is that they kept 3 backup defensive ends rather than 2. Jesse Nading and Tim Jamison must have shown some flashes to make the 53 man roster. Neither are the speed rushers than Barwin are but I thought Nading had a good game yesterday. Adewale Ogunleye, Derrick Burgess, and Victor Adeyanju, and David Veikune are probably the best 4-3 defensive ends on the market. I don't think Schobal is an option. Ogunleye had 6.5 sacks last year in 14 games but is 33 years old and the Texans typically go for younger players but they did just sign Derrick Ward so they might go with the experienced guy since Nading and Jamison are inexperienced.
I followed the Oilers from George Blanda until they crawled out of town in the dark of night. I have followed the Texans from the git go. Let's face it, I have suffered more than any sports fan should have to suffer. Since yesterday, I haven't been this excited since Billy Cannon and Blanda were AFL champions AND Earl and the Luv Ya Blue era were rolling through everyone but the Steelers. I saw a solid, gutsy, and football-skilled performance against a first class opponent. It felt so good. I don't care what happens, as long as they keep playing like they did yesterday. Unfortunately, I am also a Cowboys fan; I always pull for the Boys unless they are playing the Texans. Well, they have too much talent to look that bad. That was a real downer, but the Texan's play more than made up for it.
Said before the game that the Texans were the better team and should win this one. Texans with the talent on this team should be a top 5 team this year, they really should. If Foster can run like this consistently, then the Texans are going to give the best defenses fits, even the Jets. We'll see, they just have to bring it every week and stay relatively healthy. Also Kareem did well for a rook, tell you right now...MUCH better than how Wilson is doing right about now.
I was just doing a search for a Kareem Jackson thread...the reason being that Kyle Wilson is absolutely getting abused left and right. Its almost comical right now.

Arian Foster's numbers in context By Paul Kuharsky A rundown of all the amazing things we can say aboutArian Foster’s opening day, when he took 33 carries 231 yards and scored three touchdowns: Foster’s 231 yards amount to the biggest total a Texans' back has ever posted in the team’s first three games. Steve Slaton had 192 in 2008, Domanick Williams had 188 in 2005 and Williams had 177 in 2004. (ESPN Stats & Info.) Foster is first player in NFL history to rush for 200 yards and three touchdowns on Kickoff Weekend. (From @nflfootballinfo.) Foster is on pace to run for 3,696 yards and 48 touchdowns. (From @bnickelsun.) Foster's 231 rushing yards were the most ever allowed by the Colts from a single back. The previous high was Barry Sanders' 216 in 1997. Foster's 231 rushing yards were the second-most ever on opening day. O.J. Simpson had 250 in 1973. It was the 23rd-best rushing performance in NFL history. (Texans PR.)
