awesome...awesome game. Matt - made a bad decision on one play. I just dont think he ever saw the other safety. AJ - should have caught that one pass. I really want him to lead the league in receiving again but i don't think its going to happen. He had a very good day blocking. Walter - some big catches. Really benefited from the attention AJ gets. JJ - the guy just makes plays. too bad he dropped that one td though. Foster - just wow. Carryin Arian! I'm glad he pickedwhere he left off last year. Not he has roles to run through O-line - domination. Wade may have been a nice find. Looked like briseil got in there. I though caldwell was the starter. ANyone else notice how much PT each got? I meant to keep track but got sidetracked. D- line. Awesome. Mario was a beast. Smith was awesome...funny how that FA signing is looking better and better. Okoye played great. Secondary - Manning is going to get his but they made plays when it mattered. Jackson did get beat a few times but he didnt look horrible out there. Manning was certainly attacking him. GQ had a good game. Sucks that he didnt get credit for that int.
my bad. I meant give him his props. I'm glad he got the accolades yesterday on the air. Vonte get overlooked a lot but he is a great lead blocker. Texans are lucky to have him.
^ Vonta Leach shook himself up from giving a block for arian foster. Just imagine how that defender felt.
Leach was a monster -- just trucking defenders all day long. And it was even more satisfying to hear his post-game comments, during which he gave credit to KEVIN WALTER for blowing up safeties so hard he heard the crunch and worried for the defender's personal safety. Even Andre Johnson could be seen on several occasions blowing up DBs. I have never watched a more satisfying stretch of football than the opening drive of the 3rd quarter, during which the Texans proceeded to ram the ball down the middle of the field TEN STRAIGHT TIMES and the Colts could do nothing about it. Play action? No play action. We're running it again for 8 yards. Yes, another run. Yes, another run. And another. And another. And another. Finally on the 11th play Schaub decides to throw a couple of short passes. And then they ran it into the endzone. At that point, it was blatantly obvious that no matter how many tricks Peyton Manning could pull out of his hat in a minute and a half, there was never going to be a doubt who the superior football team was on this day.
That was great. i am sitting there think that it is no way they are running again. And they would run again. I loved every minute of that second half.
It's 11:15 on Monday morning, and I'm STILL hoarse from that game yesterday. There are a few lasting images that stick out to me from the game that lead me to believe that we might be in store for a special season here in Houston: 1) After Foster's second TD, with the score 27-10, on the ensuing kick-off, I looked over at our sidelines, and our ENTIRE DEFENSE is standing in a huddle bouncing up and down, basically frothing at the mouth to get back in the game. That gave me chills. 2) Bernard Pollard jawing with whichever Colt he was near. I bet collectively as a team, they had nightmares about him yesterday. I think he single-handedly caused about 3 dropped passes from Colt receivers just based on his presence alone. 3) I have a feeling Arian Foster's TD celebration (the bow) is going to take this city by storm. 4) Vonta effing Leach. The dude is a dump truck, and he's finally getting his accolades from the media. It's amazing how much more bearable Mondays are when the Texans win. Here's to a TON of great Mondays this season!!
let's give kubiak some credit, espcially all the people who claim he isn't enthusiastic enough. you think he didn't know that was psychological ramming that ball down their throats. people want the guy to talk the talk, yesterday that team walked the walk.
All during last week, the disrespect shown to the Redskins up here bordered on epic. There was much sneering at the Redskins' fans for their enthusiasm - I believe the word used most often was "classless". It was what I consider to be a typical performance by the Cowboys. They are so blinded by their arrogance and sense of entitlement that they failed to prepare for the Redskins. The Skins didn't play well but they played hard and smart and got the win and that's all that counts in my book. Currently listening to the wailings of the cowsheep right now. I guess that butt-kicking delivered by the Texans wasn't that much of a fluke after all, eh cowsheep?
If I wasn't already standing up, I would've fallen right out of my seat when Kubiak decided to go for the 4th and 2. I figured there was no way he'd have the stones. And with ANOTHER running play too.
That game was as inept a game as I've ever seen at the pro level. Penalties and blown coverages and boneheaded play calls left and right. I actually felt sorry for McNabb. He wasn't great yesterday by any means, but Washington has some HORRIBLE receivers. Our defense is going to have a field day next week. Oh, and LOL Cowboys.
Ha Ha! Here's a little something I just picked up from the Indianapolis Star: The Texans came out on the opening drive of the second half with a game plan that could have been sketched on a bubblegum wrapper. Foster left. Foster right. Foster up the middle. He carried the ball 10 times on a 15-play drive that devoured 7:57. "They just kept pounding and pounding and pounding," cornerback Kelvin Hayden said. "They kept pounding until we broke." At 20-10 early in the fourth quarter, it was still a bit of a game, even if Austin Collie, adding to the litany of Colts mistakes, fumbled after catching a deep pass downfield that put Indy in prime scoring position. There was still hope, the Texans starting on their own 9-yard line, knowing full well they always find a creative way to blow leads to the Colts. And then it happened. Four running plays. Ninety-one yards. A touchdown to make it 27-10. Embarrassing. "Running is like stabbing you in the heart," linebacker Clint Session said. By game's end, there was Foster, owner of the greatest rushing performance ever against the Colts franchise, high-stepping into the end zone while Colts defenders lay down and offered absolutely no resistance. "He (Foster) was reading his holes," cornerback Jerraud Powers said. "The offensive line did a tremendous job for him, giving him the seams to run. We made a few mistakes on our end, but we're going to tip our hat to him. He got the best of us." Amen to that!
I saw that and loved it from surfing about reactions. Also EVERYBODY is talking about Arian wondering where did he come from? A lot of us were seeing it preseason though. . .
absolutely right! i've been critical of him for failing to make key adjustments in the past. he made a huge one going into the 2nd half and it paid off big time. kudos to kubes.
Easily the best game he has ever coached (although not saying a lot). The half time adjustments, the 4th down call, and the timeout before the onside kick were all HUGE decisions that he nailed.
As much as I love beating the Colts, I find it difficult to hate them. They're a pretty classy group and gracious in victory and defeat. Most of their fans are front-runners, but they're not especially annoying. The Titans, however.... Tuck the Fitans. And their fans.
Agreed. The rest of the Nation seems to be giving Foster some respect, probably because of the system he's running in....combined with having Schaub at QB and the WR/TE weapons...
Ya, I jumped up with a fist pump when we got it....causing my fingers to smack into a spinning ceiling fan. It hurt....but it hurt soooooo GOOD! Texans!!!
