When I need to feel better after Texan losses, I just remind myself that the Cowboys and Texans have the same amount of Super Bowl rings since our inception into the league. :\

Time to be a homer and look forward to next week, blocking out all the pains and heartbreak of today.

I blame those hideous blue jerseys the Texans wear.

They should make the battle red their regular home jersey.

Should have made a deal with the devil and kept the Oilers.......just think how good 5-0 would feel today?

I would instantly become a hardcore Houston (football) fan again if they changed the name back to the Oilers.

The name Oilers is old school and unique -- that name is light years better than the Texans.

To be clear....the Texans are still the only team I've got. I'm just not happy with the franchise at all. And I'm not interested in paying for that. I'm rooting for them....but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

I don't think you're fairweather for that. You're still rooting for them. Fairweather to me would just be switching hats and jerseys week to week based on the standings.

good teams can win close games, thats what separates them. the dolphins didnt get blown out every game last year, every so often, they would get really close to winning and then lose the game somehow. Good teams dont roll over everyone, they play close ones and pull them out at the end.

These guys didnt deserve to win against Jax (couldnt tackle) or Indy (could manage the clock). The better team won out. Emotion, Adrenaline, and Anger can only get you to about the 3rd quarter at the most. Then its time to really strap on your helmet.

I hope they can bounce back, but until they prove they are worthwhile, Ill just watch each game wondering how they will screw it up this time. And they arent getting a cent of my support. I still cant believe they continually get my time. I could have really used the past 3 hours.

The fact is, the Oilers were due to have a run of success after the debacle they ended the 90's (and ultimately left Houston) with. They had the music city miracle, they made the Super Bowl, they had some bad recent seasons... but are looking good this year without much talent.

The Patriots were once considered worse than being the "Clipppers of the NFL"... they were due to one day be a dynasty.

Even the Buccaneers eventually went to (and won) a Super Bowl (still the all-time worst expansion team in the history of pro sports).

Right now, the only franchise more irrelevant than the Texans is the Cardinals... why? Because they've been around much longer, and still have managed to do about as little as the Texans have during the Super Bowl era (plus they play in a far more apathetic sports town in Phoenix).

However all of this points to the fact that everything runs in cycles. The Texans will one day have a year where they wipe the floor with lesser opponents. They will one day have a year where if they don't make it to (or win) the Super Bowl, the season will be considered a dissapointment. It's not happening now, or any time soon.

And, even if this team was having success now... they still need to be a "franchise" for a longer period of time to fully entrench themselves into the hearts of this city. Look at the Arizona Diamondbacks or Florida Marlins for example... teams in sunbelt cities that won World Series in their breif existance... but didn't change much for the overall "diehard" fan following of the franchises.

I didn't bother me that much when the new name was announced, but I thought it was an awful choice. What not just call them the Houston Earthlings. That sounds almost as silly.

And since Bud used the Oilers name in TN, I'd never want it back.

It's karma for them force feeding Yankees, Red Sox, and Lakers highlights over the years. That's what you get ESPN !!!

for about 10 minutes today, when the texans were up 27-10, i was dreaming about the team possibly having a winning record going into mid-november (i was sure they would win not only today, but also in their upcoming games against the dolphins, lions, bengals, and vikings).

    lol!
