It's not the first time; it's not even the second time. I've heard comments like this from him a couple of times this year and a couple of times during/after 2005.
so is this normal for him, or does he appear to be getting more fed up? And same for the rest of the team?
I wouldn't say I hear it from him all the time; it's just not the first (or even the second) time I've heard it.
Thinking about it from his standpoint....he's on a franchise that really has never sniffed the playoffs. That's endured 2-14 seasons. That's lived from draft day to draft day, instead. It wouldn't be difficult to dream of greener pastures. Who could blame him? At some point you look at it and say, "I only have x years left in this league...is this really how I have to spend it? Are there not better options out there?" And for a guy like Andre, of course there are. He's been a trooper throughout his time here.
I like Andre as much as the next guy, but I don't think he walks on water like a lot of other Texan fans seem to think. If he doesn't drop those 2 TDs against the t*** and maybe gets open a few more times against j-ville, who's to say we're not 2-1 right now? And in first place in the division? Schaub threw for over 300 yards against the jags, so it's not like it was his fault Andre only had 3 catches.
that's true too. but we're talking about 2 game sample size. on a team without much talent for about 5 years, AJ has been one of the very few bright spots. soooo...i totally get his perspective on this.
andre imo could be the best receiver in the game, he is the best complete package since jerry rice, of size speed, athletic ability, quickness, everything. randy moss is the fastest and has the best hands, but he's not the strongest. owens is extremely strong but he doesn't have the speed. and add to that, despite carr's struggles, he's put up pro bowl numbers a couple of year. and i am discounting the fact that his drops are still an issue. even randy cross was saying sunday, if he was on a better team he would be considered maybe the best in the game. dude was a big east track champion.
I don't remember him dropping like he did a couple weeks ago. But if he were to continue dropping like that (God forbid), then that's a discount I'm not willing to grant him. Speed, power, height, agility, athleticism, tackle-breaking, hell even if he had laser eyes and supersonic flight--all that is worthless if he can't catch the ball.
i think johnson's overrated; he gets negated easier than any other "elite" receiver in football. i like that all jacksonville had to do was roll their coverage to his side (per kubiak) - what a revelation! funny how teams can't seem to do that against other teams with elite receivers, like the patriots, the cowboys, the packers...... i realize those are *better* teams but it's not like walter, davis and daniels are junk. johnson struggles to get separation and the next time he blows a game open will be the first time he blows a game open. this is his sixth year; he has 5 catches of 50 or more yards in his career. corey bradford had 6 in his 4 years here so no playing the david carr card - he never had schaub throwing to him. hell, randy moss had 5 just last year - why were teams not rolling coverage to him? too afraid wes welker and his pedestrian 10.5 yds/catch and blazing speed were going to burn 'em? in fact, moss averages 15.7 yds/catch for his career; johnson has never averaged 15 yards a catch in any of his 6 seasons. he's very good, but not great, and certainly not elite. and i'm with ima - catch at least one of those balls in tennessee and that's a totally different game.
Ummm breaking news!! Sage is starting today. Schaub went to the hospital last night for undisclosed reasons. They say he's active though.
annoying, cause i really think schaub was set to continue his ways. hope sage performs, and i hope there's no controversy after he leads us to a win!
