-slaton has 192 rushing yards and 97 receiving yards in 2 games total of 289 total yards of offense. -felix jones has 148 rushing yards and 3 receiving yards, toatl of 151 total yards of offense. -Johnathon stewart has 197 rushing yards and 0 recieving yards, no need to add total!! - matt forte has 347 rushiing yards in 92 carries and has 18 catches for 147 yards. total of 489. -chris johnson has 337 rushing yards and 65 yards receiving total of 402 total yards. - darren mcfadden has 272 rushing yards and 43 yards receiving total of 315 total yards. no need to put mendenhall on here not even close to this group, but from what it looks like we have the 3rd best back even though stewart had 5 more rushing yards and 0 receiving yards i would take slaton's 97. all of those guys besides chris johnson was drafted in the 1st round. and slaton was a 3rd rounder i think we have a pretty good pickup that late, and slotong really hasn't been able to go with no strings attached from kubiac yet but if he got the ball everygame like he did in tennesee 1st half he would be the leading rusher and remember we are still behind veryone by one week!!! Great PICK UP
johnson was a first rounder, late. that dude is awesome, but so is slaton. they really didn't give the credit to slaton for running inside the tackles. his toughness is underrated.
Texans 35 Colts 30 I hate Richard Smith, his defensive schemes are garbage and when he sends Blitzes they never get to the QB.
plus a 98-yard kick return for a TD and a 28.5 KOR average. i'd trade slaton for that guy in a heartbeat.... slaton runs hard and he's fast - but he's too little/not durable enough to be an everydown back in the nfl.
Where have I heard that before. . . - Sincerely Tiki Barber and Warrick Dunn Colts without Sanders are vunerable to the pass and the run so The offense should score some points 27-30 something like that as a score . . . one way or the other If the Texans have a less than 7 pt leads with 4 minutes to go and Colts with the ball . . .. Well . . .it won't look good Rocket River
your right i'm sorry i checked and i didn't see his name in th first round, i should have looked better! I wouldn't trade slaton quite yet, how can you say he can't be an every down back especially when he played the entire game in tennesee! even kubiac said i couldn't get this guy off the field he was playing so well!!! That is good for first 3 games as a 3rd rounder, maybe even a diamond in the rough? Plus with his wide reciever experience in college i could see him being a brian westbrook type player agree?
LOL, that reminds me of an old thread by somebody who posts in other forums a few years ago. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=2645861&highlight=felix#post2645861
Like I said in another thread, seeing JaX dismantle our secondary and our LBs but seeing JAX beating Indy gives us a good chance. Slaton is going to run circles, just like all RBs do on the Colts. Texans 24 Ponies 17 Sorry, Paidtons Manning, your production is going DOWN. ¡¡¡VAMOS, TEXANS!!!!!
two exceptions among dozens and dozens... (and barber wasn't an everyday back until late in his career.) slaton was splitting carries his final year at VW already - he's not an every down back in the NFL; they didn't draft him to be one. the same thing happened to domanick davis - drafted as a kick returner/change of pace back, he emerged as the only good running back so they started using him more and more. they managed to run him into the ground in three pretty short seasons.
Slaton split carries his final year because he was hurt for most of the year, and he still averaged 17 carries per game. You're probably right in that we didn't draft him to be an every down back but that doesn't necessarily mean he can't be. He averaged 23 touches per game during his Junior year so he has carried a full load before.
I'll be interested in seeing how the Texans show up. From this article about Johnson, the tone seems pretty down. I hope they aren't quitting. On being frustrated about losing..... “I think after a while, it kind of takes a toll on you,” he said. For the first time, he appears to have had enough. It has been reflected in his body language and in his postgame comments. When he dropped those two touchdown passes in Tennessee, he did what a leader is supposed to do. He stepped up and accepted the blame for the defeat even though there were a dozen other things that went wrong. So the Texans go to Jacksonville and Johnson touches the ball three times. “It’s not just me,” he said. “I’m pretty sure it’s that way with a lot of the guys around the locker room. I guess it just bothers me a little bit more because I’ve been going through it since I’ve been here. So, I just have to continue to work.” chron
I think the offense has a good day against the Colts. Unfortunately, I see our secondary getting abused yet again. God I wish we had NFL-caliber starters back there. At least something above the practice squad All-Stars we've been trotting out. How's Dunta doing, anyway? Evan
