What set him off was Gilbride passing the ball instead of running the clock out at the end of the first half right?

Gilbride won two super bowl rings as offensive coordinator of the giants, so I'd say buddy was wrong

Need to look out for the status of Newton and Allen. Line has moved to -1 making me think one is more limited than expected

Buddy was carried off the field by one of the greatest teams of all-time, and helped revolutionize defenses everywhere... and it was his defense that was largely responsible for the success of the 1993 team.

You can't honestly say that had those teams been a tad more versatile on the offensive end... collapses like Denver and Buffalo may not have happened. The run and shoot... gah.

They were 4th in the NFL in both points scored and allowed.

Unlike baseball... good/great defenses have a profound effect on how much offenses score.

1993 was actually one of the weakest run and shoot teams of the era. Moon's numbers down across the board (relative to the hey-day)

I'm not disagreeing with you, Moon & Carlson were both terrible that year.

Carlson? LOL... finally got his chance when Moon was benched, and he promptly gets hurt.

That team was as dysfunctional as they come. The streak was amazing, but several members of the team thought it was one of the worst overall coaching jobs, given the amount of talent they had.

I believe they did a "football life" specifically about that team, because of how bizarre that season was.

Any team with Warren Moon, Webster Slaughter, Haywood Jeffries, and Ernest Givens, held their own on that side of the ball. They even had a 1000 yard rusher in Gary Brown that year.

I think you are mistaken a bit about that team. Their defense was good, but their offense was damn good as well.

I just got invited to my brother in law's for dinner. I'd rather stay home and watch the game. I don't want to tell my wife she can't see her family, but he lives in the stick and doesn't have any good wifi. Plus, he's a Vikings fan.

So, we compromised. We're going to watch the first half, and then I'll stream it while we drive there.

Will say KC has casinos, at least.

IIRC, it was INT'd.. or something that gave Jets the possession.

I was reading on wiki that buddy said two defensive players got injured in late possessions that year because gilbride didn't run out the clock

It wasn't as good as previous iterations of the offense (look at all the numbers and compare them to previous seasons). By then, defenses had a better idea on how to defend it... which forced the Oilers to run the ball more (which they did).

What the should have done was incorporate an extra blocker for games where they were trying to protect a lead... but alas, they had no idea how to do that because run and shoot is what they did.
