This is bullsh*t trying to pin hopes for the playoffs on what St. Louis does. We're not good enough to get in on our own so I guess it's not meant to be. We blew so many games we should have won earlier in the season.

I do, I replayed it a few times...it was in the strike zone. By a few inches. The only reason the ump called it a ball was because the catcher reached over.
OF COURSE he's going ot have to reach over if he's set up far outside.

Sorry I refuse to blame this seasons failures on one bad ball/strike call by the ump.

I blame this seasons failures on the stubbornness of using players like Gallo and Lane in big roles for good portions of the season. We should have had A LOT more wins this season. Hopefully next year we'll have another much needed bat in Carlos Lee and we can convince Andy and Roger to come back. This team has the heart ... I will give them that. And credit for that can go to Garner along with the bad that he had this season.

This team was lucky to be anywhere near the playoffs with 81-83 wins and the Cards are damn lucky to be in the playoffs with 84 wins or whatever the end up with.

I'm glad i didn't watch the game, and was at work. I don't know what the hell would have happened.

if we win tonight, does that still force the game with the giants?

This is why you dont depend on MF'ers to do what you should have done in the first place.

I mean damn, how many games should we have won early on that we blew!

Not giving up, but frankly it's not looking good. We really needed the Brew crew to win this one! Thanks you reconstipated cheeseheads! You sure didnt play like this when you came to MMP in 2003.

We have to win out and the Cards have to lose tomorrow to force the game with the Giants.

And frankly, I don't feel good about that possible Giants game. I doubt the Giants players want that game to take place at this point ... anyone know what the pitching probables would be for that?

I know how you feel...that is what made last season soooo special.
Knocking them out of the playoffs in the old Busch with their deer caught in the headlights looking fans sitting around after. It was AWESOME!!!!

No...the Astros inability to put together a full season and Brad Lidge ended the season... a long time ago.

Yeah, if we won half of what brad lidge loss, and whatever mike gallo, and dumb decisions by garner were made, then we probably would have won like 88 or 89 games maybe.

Couldn't agree more. While a bad call, the ump really isn't to blame; or at least in the sense the he was calling "for" St. Louis, cause he missed another call either that same inning or the one prior that went against St. Louis (a high strike that should have been called ball). If anything, the ump just wasn't consistent. But no team should look to anybody but themselves for their own failures. To pin your hopes on other teams is an act of desperation; an act that if the Astros even played AVERAGE baseball this season wouldn't have had to resort to.

The bright side to this is either A) the Cards lose the next two and we win out, forcing a tiebreaker which we win, and ride the train all the way to a title or B) the Cards win out with their crappy rotation and bullpen, masking their obvious weaknesses, lose handily in the playoffs, make some minor upgrades in the offseason (no of which completely answer their glaring problems while the Astros make some major upgrades on the offensive end, enticing Pettite and Clemens to give it one more go with a much improved team from '06 and even '05 and become the cream of the crop in the NL Central.

the NL is SOOOOOOOOOO going to get rolled in the World Series. Atleast the Mets had a shot, but that shot went down with the calf or whatever it was with Peter.
