Wow... this is almost a carbon copy of the game that the Brewers ROUGHED us up in 2003. They had a 9-1 lead in the second inning before we came up to bat. Their starting pitcher was Wayne Franklin. Our starting pitcher, Jeriome Robertson, was traded that off-season. We all knew that his win numbers were a joke, but that last game was almost a "lightbulb" going off in everybody's head that this guy was awful. The guys we got back in that trade: Luke Scott and Willy Taveras. Crazy how this game works... basically, we can pretty much thank these same Brewers for getting us the wonderkid that has been a huge part of our comeback ans winning streak.
ok, hypothetical question here.... i know its a little early too but can't help it: IF we take the division, would you rather face the mets (w/o pedro) or the pads/dodgers in the first round??
I think I was there for that game...hard to remember as half the games I've been it seems have been blow outs after the second inning.
I think honestly the Mets are the most vulnerable at this point...the Pads and Dodgers seem to be heading into the postseason on a roll... plus it usually comes down to starting pitching and the Mets are seriously suspect in that department.
I'm gonna pretend PocketRockets didnt post that. I'm glad Milwaukee is trying. There have been many sportswriters (Kruk, Simmons, someone on CNNSI whose name escapes me) who have mentioned that the playoffs would be better with the Astros and their Big Three pitchers. St Louis is Carpenter and then a bunch of junk. Granted they have Pujols, but otherwise they are a guaranteed 1st round exit. For Americas pasttime, and the joy of Americans everywhere, the Brewers need to kick the Cardinals' asses.
Hrabosky: "well, Houston will wake up tommorow and see the standings... maybe they'll start to feel some pressure themselves... lets see if THEY can handle it."
Oi! You are waking the displeasure of the BBGs, man! Put a sock in it until the Astros clinch. I humbly apologize for the presumption of my fellow Astro fan. I will now sacrifice a pouch of Big League Chew on your behalf, o BBGs.
If the Brew Crew win this series, they are going to be my 2nd favorite MLB team. I will root for them when they don't play us. .....well....maybe just root for this series.
like the 1000 other posts of a miracle comeback have halted our resurgeance on this chase its a freaking hypothetical question
Just a sidenote..but anybody sticking to any "rituals" during this whole thing...I have found myself reluctant to shave for the past week or so.
I'd love to face the Mets, our strength is the ability to shut down their lineup, and we can hit their average at best pitching. I wouldn't however want to face Peavy, Chris Young and Woody Williams and that great bullpen. Pads are dangerous. The Mets have a good record by beating up a weak NL this year with their potent lineup. They are not a good team. Trust me. I think if we got in we would do big damage, and belive me, the rest of the Mets are scared right now. Nobody wants anything to do with us. We have taken 1 step further every year - 2004 - Won 1st div. series and got to NLCS 2005 - Won 1st pennant and got to World Series 2006 - Won 1st World Series......??????
