His numbers will certainly decrease as he is another year on the downside of age and injury problems. Not to mention the surrounding line up. When you have an "average" player in the three hole, the situation is not looking good. I will be suprised if Bagwell improves in any of his statistical catagories over last year. Its possible, check that, very possible, but I just don't see it happening.
no, but both of their big innings were results of his bad decisions to keep throwing it to second and not getting the easy out at first. that happened in the first inning with that edmonds shot.
In the first inning, it was Everett (not Ensberg) who tried to throw to 2nd.... but he probably would not have had a play at 1st anyways, since he had to range pretty far, and Rolen ran up the line pretty well. It was just a really unlucky play... and the Cards benefitted in the end. Also, Ensberg's decision did not cost us any runs that inning... Oswalt got out of it with a DP.
Even still... the one that was actually Ensberg didn't cost us any runs. They only scored in the 1st.
Frodo K's looking to end the mini rally. strike zone's a little inconsistent today... but it's tough to take a close 3-2 pitch in that situation.
Taveras' play is the one bright spot today... hell, he could be leading off tommorow (if Garner is as much of a nut as I think he is). He even got them to use their closer... we gotta have moral victories in these whitewashes.
Nice hit by Taveras. Only problem is that I am facing Isringhausen in fantasy baseball, so it kinda sucks that a save opportunity has arisen.
