Nice shot by Pence, really surprised that Suppan wasn't pulled before Pence came up.

Pence seems to kill those hangers.

Pence is now over .800 ops and should be higher after that blast while creeping up to .500 slugging on the year. It seems he has taken over the leadership role pretty nicely with the Vets in different uniforms which is exactly what I wanted to see. I love to see him finish around .300 25 95 .350/.500.

Castro 2 for 3 today, looks like he is starting to feel more comfortable out there.

3 up, 3 down for Lindstrom. Kepp with a solid play on a sharp grounder for the 3rd out.

I hope so. Maybe he'll be above the Mendoza line by the end of his career.

Nice job Lindstrom, maybe he needs some Lidge type treatment by getting him out of that closers role for a good while or maybe he is just healthy now.

Castro is 23 and plays the most physically demanding position, not to mention that he is tall and lanky. I think it was Bennett that said he lost nearly 20 lbs by the end of last season. He'll need more time to develop strength and endurance than other young players.

I wouldn't put too much stock into his hitting numbers for maybe another 2 seasons.

On the plus side, he has clearly demonstrated his good eye and it's not just where he's hitting in the lineup.

    His BB% is 10.5%.

    CJ: 4.3%

    Wallace: 3.3%

Castro has also shown the ability to hit to all fields, which is in line with the scouting reports.

Small sample sizes for all of them but I have a feeling that Wallace will improve in that area more than CJ based on what I've seen from the two. My hope is that CJ continues to hit for average and power.
