come on Nick, give me a little props for the reverse psychology? ALWAYS expect the worst. then anything better is gravy! HOW BOUT THESE STROS!
Games like this are why people keep coming back for more. A great baseball game and I would have said that even if we lost.
Where did you come up with 50-50? Why not 61-39? Or maybe 58-38, giving your imagination a standard 4% margin of error?
Just my opinion, I would bet though if you looked up the stats of plays hit to medium center field and a runner coming from 2nd that they score more often than not when the throw comes home. Anyway, it is just a difference in philosophy, I send him there, you don't....no right or wrong really, one is just a more aggressive play. DD
This is why I wasnt sure if LaRussa would take Carpenter out of the game...He just blew right by our middle of the order and was in control again...But most everyone would make the same move just interesting
I love the fact that we have a day off tomorrow. The guys deserve to soak this one in. Plus, I don't want them going into the Mets series on too much of a high.
No... one is aggressively STUPID. There certainly is a right or wrong. Sending him there would have been WRONG, regardless of whether or not by some miracle he would have been safe. Unless Clark had some inside knowledge of the outfielder having a strained rotator cuff (which he didn't), there's no way you send him. Sending a slow-footed runner when your best hitter is on deck is suicide... especially when you're just in the 7th inning. This isn't little league, or slow-pitch softball.
In YOUR opinion...... No point in arguing it Nick, that is what you think, not what I do....apparently Dave Clark agrees with you. DD
