Carpenter is not quite on his game. His curveball command has been horrid (save for a few good ones). He's walked a ton of batters for him (2 is a lot for Carpenter) and the Astros have hit into some hard outs.
I also believe that Rasmus hesitated when he saw Clark put up the stop sign. He didn't hesitate before he saw that. He knew he had plenty of time to make the throw if Coste kept going for any reason.
He double pumped the throw because he looked up & Clark was halfway down the line with his arms up & Coste was still not at the bag & starting to stop. Guy was meat at the plate. I believe in me, and JD, and JYD. Of course this could be the gin talking.
Nope I remember Hargrove walking Bonds with the bases loaded in the ninth to put on the winning run on base during his crazy year in 01...Id walk him especially with 2 outs...
Ok good job Hawk...now if we can take the lead or win it in the ninth we wont have to face Albert again!
I agree, but I think with Carpenter pitching you should take the shot....chances are that the Stros will lose 3-2 now, and wouldn't you rather have at least TAKEN that chance to tie it up? DD
Wow 2 quick outs...looks like it will take a dramatic 9th inning win! Havent had one of those in a while...no time like the present!
Any chance LaRussa sends Carpenter out there in the 9th? Poor Hunter no match for Carpenter tonight....
pence is looking worse and worse every day. pudge, coste, keppinger? that's a tall order. let's pray for a miracle.
114 pitches, I doubt it. Seems like the optimal situation to send in a closer that's been lights out this year.
I like Val but he makes me nervous in these situations...honestly in all situations but more in these....
