One thing that bugged me throughout the telecast was the fact that Joe Morgan kept repeating that we had no shot. We get it already... Plus, the other guy in the booth (cant remember his name) kept saying who unlikely it was that we even won this series and who amazing it would be if we won the division and Joe gives his typical "yeah but they aren't doing that"

We all know we probably won't be able to pull it off but come on man show a little spirit. Plus youre a former astro with your number hanging on the side of MMP, at least pretend to be even remotely amazed at the idea that the astros could pull of yet another playoff steal of epic proportions.

What an ignorant post. You know damn well that's not why Wilson was booed.

Why was Vizcaino booed then? Why was Kent booed? He was a prime RBI guy and a playoff hero.

    How's your logic now?

I was at Kent's first game back to MMP as a Dodger. While there were a few idiots who booed him much like there are with every fan base in sports, I myself applauded and cheered for him as did most others in the park that night.

It's amazing how much can happen in one weekend. The Stros are looking good right now. Really good.

It felt damn great to win those three games in a row in our last at bats. Seriously, the Cards had done it to us so many times. It was about time we brought the pain.

Way to go Stros! We still have a small chance!

From being dead last weekend, to suddenly having some life. We are clinging on life support.

    Go Stros!

I've been to two games against the Dodgers this year, and I heard more boos than cheers. It's quite a sad reflection on Astros fans. The passion is good, but misguided.

I'm not saying you have to cheer them, but to boo them is completely classless and stupid.

I didn't hear any boos tonight for Spezio or Belliard. Why must Viz and Wilson be booed?

Yeah, I yelled "stop being such a debbie F'ing downer!" at the tv after like the 5th time he said that.

I couldn't stand Joe Morgan tonight.

I was at the game, and when Wilson came up to bat I didn't boo or cheer. But on the inside I was thinking, "This should be an easy strikeout, game over." Which was exactly what happened. I know Preston was never a good player for the Astros, but the guy should have never been booed. Especially since the Astros were the ones who let him go. I only boo players like Beltran.

was at the game....was a great, playoff-like atmosphere, and as much as i have ripped apart ausmus and biggio, this team really came together this series, top to bottom, and it was great to see. as difficult of a pill to swallow as not making the playoffs would be, it's great to see them going down fighting. even the eternally optimistic homer couldn't have realistically expected a sweep in this series, and it was truly one to remember. if there are no playoffs in our future, at least they left the home crowd with one last great memory.

    go stros.

for once i agree with a TMac640 post. oh noes, we have a long way to go to be considered intelligent baseball fans! because that comes up all the time in my daily life.

people can boo or cheer who they want and it doesn't make them any dumber or smarter. wilson seemed like a nice guy who played hard, and i wouldn't boo him if i were there, but i'm kinda glad he's not striking out for us any more. if fans wanna boo him b/c it gets them more into the spirit of the game (i doubt it was actual vitriolic booing like is reserved for the pippens and beltrans of the world), go for it. if you wanna say nothing, go for it.

Wilson got booed because he was a perpetual choke artist at the plate. Strikeouts or GIDP's. He was the second brother of the rally killers. But apparently you didnt get that memo.

As for the others, you may have a point ... not really understanding the why there. Viz basically did his best, had some key playoff at bats for us but with Orlando his role as a pinch hitter diminished.

Kent shouldn't get booed. He wanted to go to SoCal, his roots or so he said and got the opportunity. Enough said.

This from the guy who's rooting against the Texans and wants the organization to fail. All because they didn't listen to you on draft day. I think you're hardly in a position to criticize other fans, regardless of the sport.

First of all, if you think that the reason Wilson got booed was his performance while he was an Astro, you are seriously fooling yourself.

Secondly, Kent didn't leave because he wanted to go to SoCal, the Astros had a club option and declined because they were trying to save as much money as possible at the time to re-sign Clemens. It was entirely the Astros' decision.

So why did they boo him then?

Because alot of the people that go to the games are ignorant about baseball. They hear a name they recognize and, "oh, he's playing for the other team. He's a traitor. Let's boo him.."

Like I said earlier. The passion is good, but misguided.

Boo Beltran yea, but don't boo Kent, Viz, or Wilson. Those are good guys who left here not of their own choosing.

honestly, i think that's probably right. i was surprised they booed wilson last night, too. but the atmosphere was that of a playoff game and it was a huge point of the game.

Now I am a bit confused. While Beltran was here, he almost single handedly carried the Astros to their first playoff series win ever and had arguably one of the greatest postseasons ever. He certainly did more for the team that Preston Wilson ever did.

Shouldn't "true" fans applaud him for the effort he gave while he was here?

    HELL NO!!! :)

I can't, bobrek...i'm not that decent of a person. Beltran's post-season story was quickly overshadowed by his off-season story. That's who he is to me. Him as Astro is a distant memory.

iirc, we declined his option but gave him a lesser value contract offer but he decided to go to the dodgers for a little more money. so it was his decision i believe.

i was at he game myself and what a moment. i went out and grabbed a few drinks to celebrate too.

now on to the phils today! man i hope we take tonites game, this is a key game as well as the rest of the 6 games.

on the cards last possible game, if the astros and cards are within a half game of each other after sundays game, the cards have to play the giants on monday and if we are tied after that we play a 1 game playoff on tues.

you know the league never flipped a coin for the 1 game playoff b/t assblows and poojols to see who would have home field for the division. they are prob gonna have to do it in a couple days especially if it gets any closer!

i have no idea why docrocket, i think, would say we are ok if we stand pat in the offseason? are you basing it off this series? if so then you are correct. however over the course of 162 games, dammit we need another power guy in this lineup! i agree to the resign of huff and then going after lee or soriano as hard as possible.

fans are ignorant. they should have cheered for Wilson, not b/c he was an Astro but b/c he was coming up to bat. We needed an automatic strikeout. who better than the K king. :D
