Maybe Uncle Drayton and Timmy P realized he should be the 3rd basemen, after watching Huff come thru huge, and Ensberg strikeout in a key situatiuon once again.

Astros '07: 2-6 in the lineup

Burke 2B, Soriano RF, Berkman 1B, Scott RF, Huff 3B

I don't really expect/judge him based on putting up gargantuan numbers... he shouldn't be expected to be a perennial all-star.

I want a guy who's been pretty consistent in his production over the years (unlike Ensberg), is not a defensive specialist only (Everett/Ausmus), is not an aging player past his prime (Biggio), is not a platoon player over his career (Lamb), and is not a guy without much MLB experience (Scott).

Jesus... I just went through our entire lineup, and only TWO guys (Huff and Berkman) are consistent, everyday, EVERY YEAR, lineup guys who aren't either rookies or past their prime.

Also, Huff is exponentially more re-signable/affordable than most other FA options... and is a good guy to have already in the fold in case we don't get Carlos lee.

Supposedly he's a 2nd half hitter but I think he was messed up by switching leagues and having to learn all new pitchers. If the price is right we should bring him back.

He was injured earlier in the year as well.

Aubrey was always one of those hitters that don't strike out much. I was rather suprised when he had those K struggles early on, but I have faith that it's because of the new NL pitching. His numbers and on base percentage has always been great and I think he'd be a great addition if we keep him for years to come.

It's nice hearing them gush over B-G-O, but it kind of makes me sad that everyone (re: ESPN anaylst) has forgoten about Bagwell's contributions already.

"The Crawford boxes were probably built for Biggio! When he retires, they should rename them the Biggio......(pause) Crawford Boxes"

"When you think of the Astros, you think of Craig Biggio"

Astro should resign Huff if he is not asking too much.

He could be a much higher percentage hitter if given him more time to adjust.

Dont mention he can play multiple position.

I would love to bring Stinger back. we should be able to get him at a reasonable price since he has hit like crap this year. the stinger just needed to get used to winning. re-sign him!

I can guarantee he'll ask for less than Lee or Soriano. Not that the Astros shouldn't go after Lee (which they will)... I just think its good to have plan B's.

    Right?

I agree, look at Bagwell's stats. He had absolutely monster seasons year after. He had bigger years than the one Berkman had this year, repeatedly. You think we may like to have frickin Bagwell in this lineup, damn..... I sure miss him.

When its all said and done, who will the greatest Astro be? Biggio, Bagwell or Berkman?

They really need to take care of their inhouse issues first and foremost. Get Pettite, Huff and Biggio resigned as soon as possible. Then get help outside the organization. If we dont' take care of those things first...then get scewed by the Lees and Sorianos, the team is totally clusterf***ed for next season.

I love Bagwell, but Biggio is showing more longevity and is making a huge case for himself being a first ballot; it's almost not even a question of "if" now. Bagwell, with the looming steroid issue (however unfair) and his rapid decline with the shoulder problems, not so much.

    My sentiments exactly.

I've heard too many fans here, and elsewhere, saying we should let Huff go, let Pettite go, get rid of Ensberg, Lidge, and Qualls... and go out there and re-stock with Lee, Soriano, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, etc.

Its just not that likely that we re-sign one, let along two, big-name free agents. Plus, even if we do land Lee, it means nothing if we can't get better pitching replacements than Wandy Rodriguez.

Pettite is priority 1... then Huff.

Just as a side note, the Card's forum at stltoday.com has melted down. Can't connect to it.

    *laughs heartily*

I've noticed that from time to time this year after/during huge losses (I follow the Cards, and their struggles, quite a bit since I used to live in STL).

They really go off the deep end... not like anything you've seen in here before.
