With the way Marquis looks tonight....I'm afraid 4 runs is gonna be too much to overcome...at least Clemens is going tomorrow night.

Edmonds is getting a lot of gay man love from his teammates over that one. They'll be on their knees in the locker room.

I don't think he is completely worthless. I just think that Tampa Bay can do better than your proposed trade. He's been solid tonight and should only be down 2-1 if Burke makes the play.

    EDIT

Show me where I have said he was worthless AND agree to the tipjar bet since you GUARANTEED that the Devil Rays could not do better than Hirsh, Rodriguez and Taveras.

I am so sick of the Astros making struggling pitchers feel as though they are "getting back on their game"

this is the last time i'm responding to you, because i dont want to turn this game thread into an unrelated argument, but if you thought wandy was great (like you did 2 weeks ago), you would think a trade of hirsh, wandy, and taveras for crawford would be an unbelievable trade for the d-rays. therefore, this week, you currently deem wandy as pretty much worthless.

in regards to the bet which i am not making (for the final time), i feel that hirsh (one of the top few pitching prospects in all of baseball) + taveras and wandy is better than a trade for two prospects (which according to you and Ric is what they want, and is infinitely better than hirsh + w and t). so, it is impossible that the bet will be resolved.

Number one, I said Rodriguez was solid (not great). I contend that Rodriguez is solid but I think Tampa can do better than him (for example, substitute Qualls for Rodriguez in your scenario). How you arrive that I now think he is "worthless" escapes me.

Number two. I have no idea what Tampa Bay wants and never indicated they want 2 prospects. That must have been someone else.

Number three. As to the bet. I will allow you and you alone to be the ultimate decision maker. If Crawford is traded and you think the deal is not as good your proposed one, simply say so and I'll pay up. How can you refuse that offer?

I know Garner knows a lot more baseball than I do, but WHY is Munson batting ahead of Burke? Isn't Burke supposed to be one of our better hitters? Munson has never been more than a journeyman that has struggled to stay in the bigs.

One step forward, two steps back....back to a 3 run deficit.....I guess of all 4 this would be the biggest mismatch w/ Marquis v Wandy.....though Carpenter presents quite a challenge v Pettite on Sunday.

ummm, ok. it's a deal. was trying to be fair, but if you want to cheat yourself out of your money, go ahead. i can't imagine there will be a scenario where i agree with you and concede defeat though.

i'm guessing you were planning on donating to the tipjar anyway.

Man....I think Garner thought it was time to bring out the 'ol rally killer in Jason Lane.....it must have been a tough call in whether to go with Lane or Ausmus to get er done.

    Just to verify:

    1. Crawford has to be traded on or before 08/31/2006.

    2. You will decide if the trade is:

    A. Better than Rodriguez, Hirsh and Taveras.

    B. Worse than Rodriguez, Hirsh and Taveras.

    C. Too close to call (e.g. substitute Lane for Taveras)

    3. If the result is A, you pay $25, I pay $10.
If the result is B, I pay $25, you pay $10.
If the result is C, we each pay $10.

    4. I certainly hope you can imagine a scenario where you are wrong (e.g. substitute Burke for Taveras) as I trust you will be honest with your interpretation of any potential trade.

I was thinking last night that Ensberg was hitting the ball harder than he had been. It's good to see him go yard.
