he's hit .300 or better at every single level since becoming a professional; the guy gets on base and rarely strikes out, and you're keeping him at double A.... why? zobrist is 25 - it's now or never. something's wrong if a guy is performing at a position of weakness in the system and you're sitting on him. makes no sense. my fear (and only viable explanation) is that purpura places too much of an emphasis on winning in the minor leagues to placate his buddies in the system and stunts the growth of his prospects as a consequence. case in point - can anyone explain why joe mcewing has 200+ ABs at RR? their closer is travis driskill? really? he's my age. their roster has 18 players 27 or older, and of those, 7 are 30+. what the hell? so zobrist has to languish so two 30-year olds can platoon at SS? pence has to stay at AA while charlton jimerson perfects the art of the strikeout?
It doesn't make sense to you, because you don't have all of the information. Zobrist could be working on a very specific skill at AA, and once he's ready he will be called up.
