Then again they left the bases loaded earlier.....

Astros don't have any identity or killer instinct.

There will be no magic this season like the past two years...mark my word!

    Munson was catching.

And I don't think Lidge has any options left.

In some ways, I feel better about the break coming for this team when they're playing like this, instead of the break coming when the team is on a roll.

Lidge's ERA is now sitting at an outstanding 5.79.

i have never seen somebody come within 1 STRIKE of ending an inning and **** it all up as many times as he has in the past 10 months.

They aren't going to win the division... not after this series. But, who do you think is going to runaway with the WC?

This team is pretty damn fortunate to be in a league that is even WORSE than the eastern conference was at their most pitiful state. The Reds just lost a series to the loser Braves, and the Brewers drop a series AT HOME against the loser Cubs.

    Parity at its finest (worsest).

I am going to break something if a Lidge apologist tells me tomorrow that he is still 21/26.

Please trade him for a wet sock. Hell, waive him. I don't anything in return. Just take him and spare me the misery.

yeah, you'd think 2 strikes would be an advantage for the pitcher, but not so with lidge. and some people actually thought the old lidge would come back earlier this season. once it's gone, it's gone.

Agree with the killer instinct, I haven't seen it since that 19-9 start (man that was ages ago).

But the Astros are far from done; they can turn it around in a heartbeat just like last year.

Send him packing in a trade involving Wilson and Lane. Lets get Crawford here!

That's because Billy the Kid is of the same pedigree as Roy 'Icicles' Oswalt; they have the same 'pit bull' mentality and approach to the game.

It's a joke to even begin to compare Brad Lidge to Billy Wagner. I told you guys from day one that the 'Lidge experiment' was over, that it was short-lived but we had to move on and try to get rid of him while we could...now you couldn't pay someone to take him off your hands.

Houston teams all suffer from the same ill: stupid, incompetent management.

Jackfruit breaks juice glass (dropped; not broken out of anger). However, the dropping was a result of a lack of concentration and focus attributed to Lidge.

New York isn't all that enamored with Billy Wagner either... as much as the Mets have been impressive, the bullpen (which was supposed to be nailz with Julio and Wagner) has barely been good enough.

Trever Hoffman is the only closer with longevity that's having a dominant season.

More teams need to go with the Papelbon/Lidge of 2004 approach... bring in young/live arms that the league doesn't know, and who haven't blown anything to let their own head get in the way.

I would love to second this, but we can't get Pujols' dirty jock strap for Lidge now. Crawford is a pipe dream.

Agree. Wagner would have thrown at Albert's head the furst time he faced him this season. Wagner is a jerk and a hothead....but he's tough as nails and the Astros need some attitude.

Lidge is all "Jeez Schucks....Albert is a great hitter and I tried my best....dang I'm disappointed in myself!"

    SCREW YOU Lidge!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i didn't think we'd ever see the '04 Lidge again, but i thought he could get back to being one of the better closers in the game. definitely don't anymore.

i really really hope that purp is smart enough to trade him. there are plenty of teams that would take him. i'd be happy with anything we got for him. he's done here.

Forget Crawford..why can't the Astros get somebody like Craig Wilson of the Pirates? Why can't Purpura put down the deep fried spam and cheese eclairs and make a move to help this team?
