I agree... if they're going to do anything at this point, I'd rather they shore up the bullpen. I just thought it was an interesting tidbit that teams like the Pirates, Cubs, and Royals can put up more legit MLB hitters on a daily basis... but we can stay near playoff contention with a lineup of basically 4 hitters right now.

That factoid is also more of a product of Lane and Ensberg just being abysmal. If they perform closer to expectations (or just at average levels)... the lineup isn't that big of a problem at all.

Read the second part of my statement....what good is another bat gonna do you when the bullpen pisses the game away.

He did say the pitching needs to get better. You can't do much with the starting rotation (except for taking Wandy out)... but there's plenty of wiggle room in the bullpen, with Nieve or live arms down at AA/AAA.

The pitching has cost this team (and won this team) far more games than the lineup has won/loss... if this team was one bat away, it'd be a different scenario... but pitching is still the name of the game.

Yeah that is pretty amazing..we have half a team when the 'Stros go up to bat but they're still sitting pretty good; I'd say Oswalt, Pettite, Clemens and co. deserve some props for that.

Or having Berkman come thru in a large majority of clutch RBI situations, and having Lamb/Burke continue to get key extra-base hits when needed.

True. But this blown save is certainly not the same as yesterday's.

Cards fans loathe him... before yesterday, they would have taken Lidge over him.

But now, with Lidge AND Izzy sucking so much... I think both teams would welcome Dan Miceli with open arms.

2003 all over again... both teams are currently no longer the class of the NL.

Doesn't matter how you slice it...a blown save is a blown save.

What the hell was Munson thinking?!

One step forward and 2 back...Bidge with the sac fly, then Lane trips up on the tage and Munson picked off. jeez.
