berkman with a bang. i only had a quick look, but that looked like it BAREly made it over the line...glad the ump got it right!
yea willy! and it's really nice to see lance able to hustle for that infield single, even though he didn't get it. it just looks good that he can run full speed without any trouble!
Willy T may struggle against the average pitchers in this league... but for some reason, he has an entirely different approach when facing pitchers with good sinking/breaking stuff... the kind of stuff that normally gets good hitters out. We saw it in the World Series last year, and we've seen flashes of it the last two nights... he loves that low ball a ton. Biggio, on the other hand, is another story....
Petttie at over 100 pitches now... do you stick with him and let him pitch the 7th, or bring in the inconsistent Qualls... who was money against St. Louis last October? Its easy to be the couch-manager sometimes, but decisions like these are tougher than they seem.
IMO, I'd stick with Pettite here... simply because its the bottom of the lineup, and he's got a pretty good ground-ball rhythm goin right now. Then again, I'd like to see Qualls face the heart of this order in the 8th... and that works in this decision as well.
ohhhhh yeaaaa! LOVE Adam at short I can't imagine too many SS's get to that ball, much less get an out out of it.
Well, to be fair... it only happens when guys as slow as Yadier Molina are running from first... but GREAT play nonetheless.
in comes QUAAAALLLLLLSSSS, sprinting in from the pen! here we go! edit: in fact, Stros/Cards, me screaming QUAAALLLLSSSS in a tight game...doesn't feel right without a beer. I'll brb
Did Garner double-switch? I'd rather see Qualls face Pujols in the 8th than Wheeler, esp. if this is still a one-run game. Maybe he'll have to pick up a bat.
