i actually think walton would make a fantastic coach for the rockets. not only was walton one of the best big men of all time, he also knows the game from an analytical standpoint. sure, he can be annoying - if you don't have a sense of humor. one thing i do know - rudy is a terrible coach for this team. he has no ability to get through to the young superstars of this team whatsoever.
DARocket it has nothing to do with Walton's opinion of Ming. I am SURE Mercury would agree that Walton was an option before Ming arrived. We need a coach who will expect the best from all of our players. Someone to stress the fundamentals of the game. That will stress getting everyone involved and put a STOP to the selfish play of the team as a whole! Sorry, but it doesn't appear that Rudy has control over his players. Walton would be a perfect fit to mentor Ming. They are already established. Just think of how he could help Cato as well. With Cato's new found love for the game there is no telling how far he could go with the right coach. Now saying all this, let me repeat what I have said before. I have always supported Rudy T. Always. Just as I am sure Mercury has. We just have to have someone to get into these players heads. If someone needs to be benched because they are not doing whatever needs to be done for the team to win, then bench them. If Rudy can produce then great. A new offensive scheme? What team in the nba relies on isos? The good teams don't! If Rudy can change this, then Walton could just be an assistant. Rudy, Walton and Murphy. Very nice. Now if we could get larry Brown out of Phili... Brown, Walton and Murphy. Sorry Rudy.
With all the media criticizing Ming's every move, Walton, has been one of Yao's biggest supporters! I just heard him on espn yesterday say something along the lines of "one day we'll look back and remember just how stupid we all were for thinking this guy couldn't play." That's signature material right there.
Huh, what? Shoot, why not Rick Barry?!! Gimmeabreak. To go outside the 'family'? It's Rudy. Or Mr. Mean. Or Boylan.
Yes, but then we would be right where we are now. If things haven't done a complete 180 by the offseason... Everybody needs to go. Family or not. It's called "Tough Love".
I thought this was a joke thread at first. Walton? Did you not notice the part about him being an imbecile? Have you ever actually listened to him as a commentator during games? He makes those clowns covering the Sonics look like John Wooden. Of course he likes Ming, of course he likes Hakeem. He thinks the entire game should be purely focused on the center position. 1 guess why. Literally, the extent of his "expert analysis" is "give the ball to the big man." Hell, he makes Snapper Jones look the smart one.
