He pitched him in relief against the Mets a couple of years ago - some think it helped lead to his shoulder injury.

That is fairly remarkable that Michaels has 10 doubles with all his struggles and limited ABs.

I know the numbers say we are a pretty good clutch hitting team or atleast with runners in scoring position but by the naked eye it sure doesn't seem that way...

The problem is we don't hit the ball hard enough w/ RISP and we don't precede those hits with enough walks. Our biggest issues offensively are our lack of walks and isolated power. We're a very good singles-hitting team.

Wandy now has a better ERA than Dan Haren. He's been really impressive today in the sense that every inning has involved some kind of error or bad luck or a pressure situation and he's been able to escape each time.

On the other side, Gallardo continues to own the Astros offense.

Yea Wandy has had some control issues but nothing major and pitched around things that even last year would have crippled him!

Its very impressive to his maturity over the last 4 years

Great hustle by JMike no problem trying to score on that play as I dont really know what Hardy was doing throwing that to 1st...Its hard to score vs good pitchers so when you have a chance you go for it!

I lost reception so I missed the play but Bourn was due up and he's among the league leaders w/ RISP.

Slow roller up the middle that took forever for Hardy to get to and it was clear Wandy would be safe but he still threw to first so JMike came home trying to score and Prince made a perfect throw to get him at the plate...I know Bourn was due but anything less than a perfect throw and he would have been safe with Gallardo pitching very well id take my chances right then and there.

Gotcha... like I said, I didn't see it. I just don't have a lot of faith in our baserunning tendencies, in general.

Cecil Cooper makes Jimy Williams look like he knows how to handle a pitching staff. I have never seen a manager that is worse at handling a pitching staff than Cooper. The Astros will get more out of their pitching talent when Cooper is working elsewhere.

I think patton hurt his shoulder months before that. Early in the season he experienced about a 6-7 mph decrease in his fastball from the previous year along with a dive in his k/ip rate. Some claimed it was intental and pitching to contact, but I think he was just hiding his shoulder injury.

What a special year for Wandy... let's hope the pen can hold this one. I think we only have Fulchino, Sampson and Valverde rested.

Yeah we run into a lot of dumb outs, especially to third. However, Michaels did score on a play just like that the other night, so I really don't blame him for hustling and getting thrown out there. All it would have took was a bobble, or Prince (as do many first basemen in that situation), just not paying attention for even a second and delaying the throw from 1st and he would have been safe.

Nice DP to end the inning.

    Won't Disagree...lol

What ever happened to JJ HArdy?? He was such a bright young star to be and now barly in the 220s with limited power just thought he would be the next great SS.

Coop is one of the most incompetent managers in MLB. He makes unbelievably poor pinch-hitting and bullpen decisions.

Good to have Wandy back...makes you wonder what would have happened if we had Roy and Wandy healthy this last 2 weeks and Norris instead of Ortiz on that faithful Thursday afternoon...oh well
