Seconded the positive outing from Fulchino, but we still blew balls when it counted on offense.

Wish we still had Troy Patton, I played with him at Tomball in high school.

He's about to get called back up.

Stupid trade, and it will come back to bite the Astros.

Miguel Tejada has done nothing for us.

He's done more for us than Troy Patton has done... and young pitchers who have major shoulder surgery without much time in the big leagues traditionally don't go on to become major success stories.

I'm not saying we totally benefitted from the trade... but there's little chance it will truly come back to "bite" us.

Patton's in AA. He's putting up decent numbers there, but isn't really showing good strikeout numbers or ability to pitch deep into games.

    Tejada's hitting .320 for us.

Tejada has played almost every day and been the best offensive shortstop the Astros have had. I can't tell you how much of an improvement Tejada has been over Everett, Guiterrez, Bogar, Lugo, etc.

Troy Patton on the other hand has given the Orioles nothing. I don't like the trade either, but Tejada has given us more than all the players combined have given the Orioles. Tejada's huge salary is the only reason that the trade can be considered a loss so far.

I hope Tejada hit a HR today just for you.

Gee, what a beaming bright light of hope you seem to be. & I thought I was negative.

Tajada has been OK. Those other guys sure aren't setting the night on fire.

How come nobody evereverEVER bellyaches that we once had Johan frikkin' Santana & left him unprotected in Rule 5?

We've had a number of all-star players that have ended up elsewhere. It shows the value of the Rule 5 if you are willing to use a roster spot on a player that isn't ready for the majors.

Didn't he have major shoulder surgery?

Isn't Tejada hitting over .300 this season?

The hidden loss we have might be Ben Zobrist - he was kind of a throwaway "he'll never be anything" player to get Huff for a half-season. Last year and this, he's hitting as well as anyone on the Astros outside of Berkman/Lee, and he's basically played every position on the field except C and 1B. This year, in about 90 at bats, he has a 1.000 OPS w/ 7 HRs (more than anyone on the team besides Lee/Berkman). Not a huge sample size, so it may be a fluke, but seems like he would be a good guy to have.

    Wow, severely boneheaded...

The Astros failed to get their lineup change in and it cost us a leadoff hit.

    Huge fail!

How freakin' r****ded is that? Batting out of order on the first batter? Does Coop know that if you change the lineup, you have to put it on the lineup card?

yah Miguel is doing what ever he's doing. and he will be gone next year. As in no longer in an Astros uniform. He is hitting 318, with 2 homeruns, is that worth it? and if we are out of the playoff race by the allstar break, he will be gone then, i think. We could get some good young prospects if we trade him to a team that needs his veteran services.

Patton in double A (for anyone that knows how farm systems work, double A can be a call away from the MLB for young pitchers)

    4-1, 39.1 innings pitched, 1.14 ERA. 28 K's , 10 BB

and for whoever who said he does not go long in games, nobody pitches 7-9 innings a game in the minor league system. 6 innings is about usually the max.

I hate how are organization is run. We need to trade and rebuild. Sure we will suck balls for 4 years. But then we will be a playoff contender for about 8 years.

The difference between us and the marlins and the rays, is we can afford to keep good developing prospects. The marlins were created in 1993, and have already won 2 World series.

since you think that's a possibility, what was bad about the trade to begin with? we'd undoubtedly be flipping him for some prospects better than patton.

If the stands continue to stay half full (half empty to McLane) you may get your wish if the Astros are out of contention at the All-Star break.

The Astros had a pretty good draft last year under Bobby Heck. I believe that the Astros will continue to draft well (hopefully they choose on talent and not signability) and promote aggressively to get some of these players up to the big leagues.

In the mean time, enjoy watching young players like Bourn and Pence put it together. I can't say enough good things about Bourn, he looks like a different player and is definitely playing with some confidence. I can admit I was one of the detractors last year, but I'll gladly eat crow on that one.

By the way, bonehead move by Coop and staff for not making sure that the lineup card was correct.
