Just saw him in Round Rock last night. Crazy how these things work out. He hit a triple to right center that he beat out standing up. He may be goofy looking, but he's one hell of an athlete.
And the reason Pence inspired him is because someone compared him to VSpan. (PS- Craig, you're 22 doubles away from 5th place all time. That triple moved you into a tie for 590th, think about which does more for your HOF chances. )
Sure is nice to beat the crap out of someone. Poor Brewers. They had to take the brunt of a 7 game losing streak. Bush had owned the Astros the last few times he faced them. He faced a pissed off team tonight and paid dearly for it. Welcome back to Major League Baseball, Houston Astros.
Great way to get off the losing streak. Nice start for Sampson. He really has become a good pitcher and might be this teams #2 starter right now. Welcome to the majors, Mr. Pence.
George Brett is in 5th place in doubles. Jackie Robinson is in 590th place in triples. Edit: Besides, 22 more triples and he's in 304th place.
I think Berkman was wrong about what he said about benching Burke in favor of Pence. "I think Hunter Pence deserves to play in the big leagues," Berkman said Friday. "He's got a bright future. I think he's very talented, and I don't object to them calling him up to try to spark us. But I think it's unfair to Chris. I think it sends the wrong message to the team that there's something drastic that needs to be fixed. I don't like it. If you're going to put Chris Burke on the bench, I think it's a horrible move." BTW, Berkman's best friend on the Astros is Burke.
funny thing is if berkman was producing then burke would still be CF. so berkman has to share the blame.
