Crap....whatever happened to pitching inside??????? Brush em back !! AND STOP FRICKEN WALKING GUYS LIDGE !!!! DD
Maybe, but the Stros are still winning, and he hasn't cost us anything at this point. We need to stay positive. Don't jinx the team.
Well thank God for that insurance run ... Someone needs to tell Lidge the insurance company is bankrupt now This would be a devastating loss. Time to get tough Brad!
Carlos freakin Lee... yet another early-season MVP candidate: 1.) Pujols 2.) Carlos Lee 3.) Lance Berkman 4.) Morgan Ensberg 5.) David Wright 6.) Adam Dunn Either the ball is juiced, or pitchers are REALLY bad this year...
Damnit...you don't throw a fastball, you throw an outside slider. Whew.....never mind.....my heart is safe. .500 all time record, and still in first....... Everyone....... WHEW !!!! DD
Shades of 2000... all over again. I really do miss 3-1, 2-1, 1-0 games (even if we're losing)... if a team has a lot of those types of games, they're likely doing something very very right. Only the Texas Rangers, Colorado Rockies, and 2000 Houston Astros have these types of games... and those teams aren't going anywhere any time soon. A last place team can lead the league in runs scored... that statistic means nothing to me right now.
An important win today by the Astros. A loss from a comeback like that could have propelled them into a losing streak. Lidge needs several days off after this outing.
I think we'll be ok if Qualls, Wheeler, and Lidge can get it going like we know they can. If not, we are going to have to hope for a lot of wins like tonight and that is definitely not something we can count on.
Yikes, I go away, come back and see a mess before the win...The hitting is great, But...pitching is a bit hAIRY IN THE WRONG PLACES.
I dunno. The Rangers, Rockies, and 2000 Astros didn't have 2 horses at the top of the rotation like Oswalt and Pettitte. They also don't have the capabilities we have in the bullpen endgame, even if Qualls, Wheeler, and Lidge have been a little shaky in the early going. Getting Rocket back in the fold, allowing us to move Nieve back to the pen and having another ace at the top would make us very, very tough. The light seems to have gone on for Everett and Lane and even Willy T, plus we have a healthy Berkman plus Wilson's threat in the middle of the order. I hope Rocket gives it another chance.
Agreed... on paper, this team is very competitive. They have the right pieces where you need them the most... starting pitching, and set-up men w/ closers. I just know that sometimes, they tend to lose focus... last year it was the hitting, and this year (apparently) its become the mid-late inning pitching. So far, they're 2-1 in the "slug-fest" games this year... with both wins coming the last two nights. But, at the end of the day, they're in first place in the division... have their co-ace on the hill tommorow looking for a sweep... have two MVP candidates who are as hot as any 3-4 in baseball... and still have a potent bullpen that's able to snuff out 11-2 rallies, or close out 1-0 games.
