but he's fat, i'm glad someone posted this, the way he was made a scapegoat last season was pitiful. yes, he was never gonna live up to the money drayton paid gave him, but that's on management. people took the first bad season to pounce. anyway, i didn't want to be the one to jinx him, thanks
Unless we're getting some really A level prospects, why would we trade Pence who is a young man himself? Seems like he's young enough to keep around even through rebuilding.
Hunter is 28 which in reality isn't that young. By the time rebuilding is done, 2014 porbably, Hunter would probably have lost a step. Hunter can probably get you one A level prospect and another decent one so the time to sell is now. The guy I'd love to get would be Jarred Cosart, guy looks like a stud in the Phillies system. They need an outfielder pretty badly and of course there are the obivous connections.
Matt Downs should be playing everyday 2nd base after Kepp is dealt. Guy could be a steady .270 hitter with some nice pop while playing steady defense with good range.
Why are we continuing to allow Lyon to pitch under ANY circumstances? Why? The man simply gives up runs, runs, and more runs every god damn time he's out there. I don't even care if he did it and we won, we must impeach Lyon.
because, like many managers, he's stubborn and wants to be right. guarantee you that if lyon somehow strings together 5 or so good games, and melancon stumbles once or twice during that same stretch, he'll hand the closers role right back over to him.
There has got to be something obviously wrong with what Lyon is doing. Whether its mechanics, poor location, no movement.....whatever it is, shouldnt it be addressed before they keep trotting him out there? Its getting pretty ridiculous. Is there anyone in the dugout that feels like he is ready to pitch when he walks out there? Is there anyone not pulling their hat down over their eyes? Or is everyone's head in the sand? If they want the #1 pick, fine. Do it by putting green guys out there that have some upside. Lyon, upside? The only thing up for him is his era. Geezzzz. Ok, ive vented. I am ok now. I think
With that time table, contending in 3 years in 2014: Pence is 31 Bourn is 31 Bourgeois is 32 Happ is 31 Wandy is 35 Myer is 34 Fulchion is 35 Then, lets say it does work out in 2014 and we try in 2015... Bud Norris is 30 Melancon is 30 Wilton Lopez is 31 Johnson is 30 Sanches is 31 Downs is 31. If you make that argument that with age these players will break down, why limit yourself to only Pence. It is nigh impossible to predict which players will last and which won't. With that logic, the Astros are using players that are too old to start off with in the process of rebuilding (more than half of your rebuilding team is 27 or older). Not saying that the principle is incorrect. Just pointing out that if that is the new rule, it needs to be applied to every player to net the greatest result for the Stros.
