You have to hand it to Lyon... he's single handedly giving the Astros the #1 pick next year with his terrible play this season.

It is sickening to hear so many pro-Braves cheers in Houston. Lyon continues to be awful. I'm so glad we signed him for 3 years.

On the positive side, Carlos Lee continues to resurrect his value. He will probably never be worth half his salary, but at least he might be worth a 4th of it.

The sabermetric community had a field day with Ed Wade when he signed Lyon. Wade is sort of the running joke of the Morey types in the baseball world. I'm just not sold that he's particular good at anything related to his job, including building farm systems, even though that has often been his saving grace according to some. He seems to be bad to dreadful in his decision-making when it comes to things that he has the most direct control over (free agent signings, trades, contracts, etc...). Anybody that is that poor of a judge of ML talent can't likely be much better at judging raw talent. Most Philly fans still despise the guy despite the fact that he had some role in building part of their current team (how much of a role is up for debate). I can't pretend to truly know how adept he is overall as an MLB GM but my sense is that he is the dinosaur of a thinker/anti-Morey that he is labeled as by a lot of baseball people. As a fan, I wouldn't be disappointed if the new ownership went in a different direction.

Oh, and apologies in advance to Mailman or Milkman or whoever that poster was that defended Wade to no end during last season's trade deadline. I'm just not sold on the guy, not that it matters.

Meh....I wasn't surprised. This guy has become my # 1 hated stro.....this season.

It was nice not having to see him pitch.....while it lasted.

explain how his trades as our GM have been "bad to dreadful" please.

i think wade is replaceable, and i'm all for the trend of young GM (or hunsicker), but i don't think he's done that poor of a job, all things considered. as far as houston GM's go, morey is way overrated, wade is underrated, and smith is correctly rated (awful).

Lyons excuse last time was that he was injured.

    Now what is it?

Extending Myers was a great move by Wade. He's due only about $12 mil next season.

Based on a bunch of his moves, I'm starting to think his motto is "Buy high, sell low!"

The signings have been bad, with the exception of Wandy's new deal, and Myers' original deal. He hasn't had a bad trade yet. The only negatives from him on the trade front have been on the deals he hasn't made, i.e. Myers last year.

Looking back it trading Matt Lindstrom to the Rockies for nothing was probably a bad trade.

Maybe it will be, but who expected him to be doing what he is doing in Colorado at the age of 31? It has been an incredible turnaround for him.
