Not saying he's a bust or anything, after 2 SL games, but Trae Young also had a bad summer league when he was a rookie, and he's doing fine. Passing on Scoot though, might be akin to taking Young over Doncic when it's all said and done. And THAT is unforgiveable.
High draftees gets lot of leash. The ones who sometimes go ball out are the fringe guys trying to prove their NBA team or even prospective euro employers. For Josh Christopher (maybe to his detriment), went score first last summer, and a year later he is off the roster. So his 'insecurity' was warranted, but maybe didn't respond the best way possible in the summer. In my stalking of the Wizards, some of their media fanbase is low key hoping Johnny Davis have a good showing. These lower rung guys will give their best. Thompson and Whitmore are likely behind in the hierarchy of the vets and the older young core. Summer League is their first time to prove to Ime they should at least get minutes and not shipped to the vipers.
Is Brandon Miller significant enough of a potential Rockets legend to get a "Brandon Miller as a __" thread? I think no.
I'm aware they've played a combined four games, but Henderson looked like the second coming of Chris Paul out there. No clue why CHA went for Miller.
LaMelo can't play shooting guard? Maybe. Jordan being Jordan? Probably. For me, NBA shenanigans. Like when Darko went ahead of Carmelo. Who knows, but Scoot was the consensus #2 from the beginning. Chris Paul PG skills in a Westbrook-esque body with Westbrook-esque athleticism. #2 only because Wembanyama is a generational prospect. Then, all of a sudden Brandon Miller enters the conversation. His gun gets used in a murder and he has terrible games in the NCAA Tournament. Despite that, he still goes #2.
Chris Paul had Westbrook athleticism before he tore his knee up at 24, which knocked him down from potential Mount Rushmore level to merely top 30 all time. Chris entered the NBA with a 39 inch vert, Russ only managed 38".
honestly , I think it’s defendable. You can go with height as a maxim and be right as often as wrong … it’s very rare for the best player on the champion be under 6’5-6’6” … with curry , he’s the greatest shooter of all time . And he’s 6’4” . picking a 6’2” guy , even if he’s got a big wingspan is risky . Like everything has to pan out for him to be great and then he’s probably only a top 10 guy and not a top 5 . I did like the action I saw from scoot on our team . He made amen pick up fouls and seemed to be able to get where he wants . Shot well at the beginning and then missed. He’s only 19 .. if his conditioning gets to pro level he’s probably going to be dynamic . Idk if he is a great athlete. Definitely good . Very smart . back to miller . I think he’s recovering from mono and yet certain aspects of his game are shining through. I think he could be Khris Middleton + . I think he’s underratedly smart and is well rounded in a good way . I wonder what the hornets are cooking up .
Miller looked great last night. Where is the same energy for Wemby? It looks like Scoot should've been #1 and Amen at #2
