Exactly. I got a 750GB Calvary external hard drive for $79 bucks shipped from Buy.com 2 months ago. You can find these type of deals all the time.
Depending on what you don on your pc, I'd look at the Samsung 22inch LCD syncmaster 226BW. I have it, and the 2ms response time and 3000:1 Dynamic contrast is....B-U-T-FUL
Blargh, there's a 399 laptop at Dell that I want...but I'm short on funds and it's hard to justify a new PC when I bought a new desktop last year so I could play games on it...and then ended up buying a 360. Now I wish I'd just gotten a laptop. Sigh.
FYI, today I went to the Best Buy at Richmond and the loop and they had the Hitachi 50 in Plasma for $996. To be honest though it didn't look that good. Maybe it was the way they had it configured, but it looked really washed out compared to some of the lcd's and plasmas around it.
It's very suprising because the reviews are really good here and other places I've read: http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/plasma-lcd-televisions/m/34766457/form_keyword=P50H401
I know, it surprised me too because I am also a review junkie and had read nothing but good things about it. Like I said, it could have easily been the way the idiots at Best Buy had it configured. Also on that note - Are LCD's in general just a brighter/crisper picture? I've always heard that LCD's can have a problem with deep blacks, but when I was looking at those sets today the LCD's looked better than the Plasmas across the board.
I just got back from the Best Buy on Richmond, and there is already a line of people camping out for Black Friday deals.
I plan on being like Barney from "How I Met Your Mother". "I know a guy who knows a guy. They brought it over from Japan on a boat like frikkin' King Kong." "I see lights even when I close my eyes!" "Yeah, that doesn't go away. Ever." I figure since the TV I have now is on it's last legs, I might as well spoil myself.
