If it's only 37" it's absolutely useless wasting your money for 1080p. Good luck trying to spot the difference at that size. That Samsung is a good deal though
IMO, the difference is night and day. 1080 makes 720 look like standard definition. Most HD channels are 720p, but I believe, and someone correct me if I am wrong, NFL games that are HD are usually 1080.
Screen size is a major factor in the difference. 720p on a 37" screen looks way better than 720p on a 55"+ screen. I have a 65" and there is a big difference in a 720 source vs 1080 source. NFL football is typically 1080 when in HD. I personally think a 37" 720p screen for $300 is a major score.
if you keep reading, people are calling out BS on that deal because 32inch LCDs aren't that low. The cheapest maybe $500 for a crap brand 32inch, and we're not talking about 37s.
Night & day?! Unless of course you're the type of guy who sits 10 feet in front of your TV, you're a true funny man. I would argue that there is only a minimal difference starting at 42". Minimal to the extent that if I brought a 42" TV to your house and told you it's 1080p when in reality it's actually 720p, you'd fall for it 9 times out of 10. Contrast ratio also plays a big role. You need a QUALITY 50" TV to really start noticing the difference. Just head over to Fry's or Best Buy and see for yourself if you don't believe me. And NFL does not broadcast in 1080p. http://www.hdsportsguide.com/ Codell, I'm curious, do you also see a night and day difference between 120 and 200 fps???
I have a Samsung 55" HDTV in a big living room. About 9' between my recliner and the TV. IMO, there is a huge difference between 720p and 1080p. Sorry you disagree.
I have a 61" Samsung in my living room. That's my TV. My roommate has a 42" Sony. Granted, I'm not comparing apples to oranges, but the difference is not night and day. Nowhere close. Sure, if you have 100 TV's in front of you, it's easy to pick out the best picture (you have to remember that places like Best Buy optimize the picture so it's not the same quality you'll see at home). But I promise if you blindly pick out a name brand HDTV and bring it home, you'd be very impressed and satisfied with your purchase, no matter what it is. I just think we're mixing up the terms "night and day" here. To me it means 2 completely opposite things. Come over to my place and I'll show you my 1080p and 720p and you can see for yourself the real difference.
my penis is real huge too. anyhoo, my thoughts on black friday, cause it matters. here is a prediction. it will be the lead story friday morning, noon, the afternoon and evening. they will have reporters from the malls, and box stores. They're going to show a bunch of idiots elbowing each other, running over each other for a piece of **** dvd or maybe in this case, an hd-dvd/b-ray player that cost 10 bucks. somewhere in the country there will be a clip of someone actually getting run over and trampled by people. black friday is stupid. yet, i'll be at the stores buying **** too.
Never go. Every time I think about it, I realize that I'm broke and the money should go towards paying things like my health insurance and mortgage.
IMO, the difference is "night and day" and I don't need to come over to your house to form that opinion. I also have a 42" HP Plasma in my bedroom and view it from about 15' away and while not as contrasting as my Samsung, the 1080 picture is substantially better than the 720.
One day I'll get off my ass and write a paper on why people willingly spend their precious vacation time to wait several hours in line in order to save up to a couple hundred bucks. Right after I invent the world's greatest cola. I have the recipe somewhere.
dude, that's terrible. I enjoy her television program, and that is all. And the Music. It rocks. I am a VH fan!
