the boos...he heard it in the boos against miami, for sure. the calls for sage. i think he knew full well...and he responded big time, in my eyes.
Alex Gibbs has done a phenominal job with the o-line. Now that they have confidence (by beating up on lesser opponents), it just may carry them into their games against the better teams... at the very least, they now know what it feels like (and what this offense is capable of) when they block well for Schaub.
The whole team played great yesterday, hopefully that a sign for things to come. With that said, I don't want to get to carried away because the last 3 games have been against horrible teams. Any update on Green? He looked like he tweaked his groin late in the game yesterday, hopefully he's okay because the Slaton/Green combo has been working out nice for us the past couple weeks.
I think the decision, whoever made it, to let Salaam play every 3rd drive was genius. I heard an interview where Salaam mentioned that being injured, and then being on the bench for the start of the season sucked and he was so used to playing (the guy has been our starting LT for like 2 straight years) that when he finally got back into the game against the Lions, he just let all his frustration and energy out on the field and started leveling defensive linemen. I think it shows in yesterday's game as well. He doesn't have to worry about conserving any energy for the whole game and can go all out on his snaps. This also gives Duane Brown time to rest during the game and a chance to watch and learn from a veteran during a game situation. Win/win.
the dolphins aren't horrible. they've beaten the pats, chargers and bills and have the same record as the texans. and the schedule has evened out. record-wise, they've now played the best team in football, the 2nd best team in the AFC, and the two worst teams in football. the important thing is that they've continued to improve each week, regardless of opponent. i believe it was a cramp.
i agree, but to their credit, two of the teams, the really bad two, didn't have a chance, well detroit did at the end. the bengals offense is really bad, but their defense sometimes put ups a fight. i will wait to make judgement on the defense, as far as the offense is concerned, if schaub plays well, the team plays well.
what i've liked all year is watching the team learn and progress from week-to-week. in the lion game, they were 8 yards away from going up 28-6 - schaub fumbles and a blow-out becomes a little tighter than it should have been (though i never thought the game was in doubt). yesterday, they didn't let up on the throttle. that's why - even at 0-4 - there were little things here and there that were encouraging. couldn't close against the colts; corrected it a week later and closed against the dolphins. etc. i still don't think they can make the playoffs; but then, the afc is having an off-year. i'm fired up to see if they can put it all togetehr again these next two weeks. 5-4 is not unrealistic.
[toolazyandbusytolookupthescheduleforhimself] Who's after Minny? [/toolazyandbusytolookupthescheduleforhimself]
baby steps. we need to see how they play this week in minnesota. but right now? i wouldn't rule out 6-4. (i also wouldn't rule out 3-7......)
I agree. Agreed on all points. I asked because of an earlier comment that 5-4 was possible. Let's watch it play out. Go Texans!
